I managed to watch about 3 minutes of the presidential 'debate', then realized that if I wanted to hear folks lying to me for a couple of hours it would be a much better use of my time to attend one of our monthly retired police and firefighter breakfasts. When those old farts all get together the whoppers they tell are at least entertaining...
I think I'm pretty much going to vote just on our Governor and the local Coroner race (one guy running is a personal friend of mine) and then roll out of the voting booth. Pitiful.

It's certainly a better option than just not voting out of disgust. If a third party candidate received anything close to %30 of the vote it would be a major wake up call to the two main parties that they were loosing their base. |

I agree, but if someone just CANNOT vote for one of the two major party candidates for reasons of conscience, a position that I can respect, then far better that they pair up with someone from across the political aisle who has the same issue of conscience so that they can place a vote in protest yet be assured they are not simply "throwing away their vote" to the other side. If the third party candidate revived all the votes from all the disillusioned Bernie supporters, and all the votes from any of the disillusioned Ted Cruz and Ben Carson supporters....while that might not result in enough votes to win the election it would result in enough votes to scare the living shit out of the DNC and the RNC that they were loosing their members and perhaps they should consider re-evaluating their platforms. Personally (begin rant/soapbox diatribe) I'd like to see a few Constitutional Amendments- 1- Eliminate congressional districts. All Congressmen to be elected "at large", each seat requiring 200,000 votes. During the elections, once a candidate has 200k votes he/she is a congressman/woman and drops off the list of available candidates to voters, and people who have not yet cast their ballot would select from the remaining candidates and so on and so forth. This would eliminate gerrymandering and result in more people having actual representation in Congress (currently if "your" candidate for congress gets 49% of the vote in your district you are effectively not represented). Who cares where the representative gets their mail delivered? Far more important are what their positions are on issues. 2- Require that all bills (and subsequent laws) cite the specific authorization in the Constitution that authorizes the government to take the proposed action. Not vague mutterings about "public good" or "enact laws", but what authorizes them that specific act. 3- Before voting on a bill it must be read out in it's entirety and only Senators and Representatives present for the entire reading of said bill can vote on it. Multiple bills shall not be read simultaneously. (That should limit how many they can pass). 4- All laws sunset after five years, and in order to be reenacted must meet the above requirements. 5. Senators would be subject to mandatory trial on charges of Treason if they vote in approval of any law later found to be un-Constitutional. It's their damn job to screen out mistakes made by the House of Representatives. Likewise the Executive should be held accountable in the same manner for carrying out un-Constitutional directives of the Legislature. That should slow the bastards down  |

I won't quibble....I threw my vote to Trump (overseas ballot) last week in a direct attempt to block Killary because I didn't see a better option that would keep her out of office. The current LP offerings are quite obviously Dem's in sheep's clothing. For folks who can't stomach voting Trump, a position I can totally understand and sympathize with, voting for the LP candidates is better than not voting at all. Let's the party hierarchies know that they're loosing their base and that they need to work on being less left wing. Ditto for Dem's who can't bear to vote for HRC, let the DNC know that they need to dump the extremist crap. Or even the extreme Left crowd.......while I don't like the Bernie crowd's ideology I readily grant them that if that's what the majority of the Dem's rank and file wants, then they should have their day in the sun to vie for the Oval Office, not be shunted to the side by someone stacking the deck. |

I urge you all to vote Trump. Is he perfect? God no. But a vote for a third candidate is a defacto vote for Hillary whether we like it or not.
I've never seen a human being who turns my stomach like Shitlary. I don't think I need to say what I'm crossing my fingers for regarding her.
