Never seen the Spartan, I actually may buy that. Thats a smoking deal on that surplus you got, Ill be keeping a serious eye out for something like that. I think a concealed pistol vest and a CC compact 9mm is the ultimate bug out combo. The PC, for me, is for shits and giggles, Red Dawn, high level rifle courses with shoot houses and MAYBE HD. Probably will never get used. If it was some one second after shit Id probably live in my PC, though. Katrina type gets pistol vest under a hoodie.

I think plates are a good idea. Here's my take, we're the militia. That's a damn strong tradition that must be upheld. If you never, ever use a rifle or wear a plate in defense of liberty it's not a waste. The exercise of rights to defend liberty and our way of life is enough. There is also the display to all who threaten our liberty, we are prepared to defend liberty, now and ever more.
Granted, I think you should use, practice and train these disciplines but I tip my hat to those who simple possess.

Prolly going to order this tomorrow . . . It's got level III rifle plates. www.ar500armor.com/concealment-plate-carrier-coyote-proline.html#.VKnvHtm9LCSConcealable is a little bit more my speed. If need be I can always throw a chest rig full of mags over it ala GBM to prevent the Commie inspired hordes from stealing my wife's porcelain kitty cat collection with accurate and devastating rifle-fire. I could also throw a black ' Fight the Power' hoodie over the body armor and blend in with the pinko hordes to go get my kid some looted pink penicillin ear drops of my own and just carry a couple Glocks and a shitload of Glock 17 mags in case my super secret right wing reactionary identity is discovered and blown and I gotta get all Jason Bourne up in their ass. [blue/text where necessary] I'm good on level II and III soft body armor. Actually managed to collect three sets, one Second Chance and two Point Blank. One for everyone in the household. One of them has a ceramic insert over the heart that gives some rifle protection from 5.56 and 7.62x39 under some circumstances (not perpendicular and over 100 meters) and 16" .44 Mag out of a rifle, 7.62x33/.30 carbine and 9mm KTW rounds out of a carbine. That's the best I have right now, so it'll be good to get plates.

Nice setup, GBM. although I am not sure about the vid you put up without comment. Are you implying agreement with the setup the dude posted for his carrier??
Also slightly OT. There was (WAS) a store here in Cola that had Interceptor vests with (technically expired) 3 pc soft armor for $99, I went by a few weeks ago to see if they had any in woodland... Store closed. This makes me sad.

Kind of a basic how to set up a carrier that's all. I think his set up a bit BIG Army warfighter for my tastes. I'm much more generalist low profile/concealable in my personal approach. Once I've re-done my stuff for the 80,756th time I'll post again.

I kind of did the whole invading a country set up, which is IMO a bit much. I just used what I could get cheap or already have. Soon I will:
Cut 100oz bladder to 50 Cut 6 rifle mags to 3 Get a smaller IFAK geared only toward major bleeding Already got rid of the large admin pouch
That should drop my weight by about 7-10 lbs

My set up (which probably needs to be reworked) was on the, "Dumbass-city-boy's-are-in-the-woods-on-their-first-hunting-trip-and-will-shoot-at-sounds" plan. I wasn't worried about hordes, just idiots with buck fever shooting without being sure of a good backstop. When I get a chance it will be reworked into a Ft. Apache (ie bunkering down) set up. In the terrain of my new place, combined with the very low population density (and assoc. risk of hordes), and finally coupled with my age.....I cannot see plates as viable once off the beaten path. Seriously, it can easily take 10 minutes to move 10 feet through your average patch off woods here when you aren't carrying anything. There is a very good reason travel on the island sticks to the shoreline for the most part.

GBM: Sweet old-school armor! I dig your set-up, especially rockin' the pistol-in-the-pocket like a boss!
re: the video, I'm with Mr. D, was that serious? Couldn't tell, maybe I don't speak ninja?
OT: I should be receiving some SKD goodies today to put my battle belt on a diet...pics will ensue...

Yeah, that dood is serious. I like him, but not my style.
I got the pistol in admin pouch idea from Haley. Imo, it's a pretty good way to keep everything together and slick.

This should probably be broken out to a new thread, but has anyone ever heard of BAO armor? Their prices sure look good, even for small-ish soft armor (10x12 soft panels) Would love to have something low profile for, you know, running to the store for milk and eggs during the end of the world...
