Another big work out and I've upped my chin up sets to 7 per set. Now I'm doing 21 per session. I'm pleased with myself. Did APFT and got a 236. I'm "In Compliance" for weight. I'm proud of myself, I've been working hard. AND YES, I AM SORE.

Yesterday I went to the range, got some decent practice in, met some cool guys and got to shoot a S&W 500 at a watermelon. I also went on a 5 mile hike with a 40lb pack. Did it in just under 2 hrs. It has been over a month since my last hike or range trip and I noticed how out of practice I was.

Went to the range tuesday of this week. I was able to get some decent pistol practice in and was able to evaluate my G23 for reliability. I was having problems with light primer strikes, so I replaced all parts excepting the barrel. It seems to run well now. I still need to put a couple hundred more through it before I am sure. I also noticed that I was doing something stupid. I was coming back to a position of retention too quickly after firing. I was not taking the time to evaluate my target with my pistol pointed at it and my finger on the trigger. It is a problem that will take many range sessions to fix, but I got in some good reps and now I know I have a problem. I also went hiking for 6 miles with my 40lb pack.

I started 25 eggs in the incubator. I'll use a couple pullets to replace older hens and freeze/can the rest. It's a good feeling having our own eggs & meat birds. No added chemicals & the taste is better

^That's badass. Wish I could do that where I live. I bet that's some tasty bird.
Started the 100 Pushups and 200 Squats programs. Started from sixteen and 22 respectively. Scored an exercise bike, done two one-hour sessions in the four days it's been here. Quitting drinking soda, kinda hard as I'm pretty pathetically hooked, and am (ashamedly) that guy that can drink a half gallon plus in a day. I did it for two years once, I'm two years free of energy drinks, time to cut it for good. I know if I cut the energy drinks and finally have a legit "no-mas, ever" attitude towards them, I can finally cut the soda for good. Last time I quit for two days, I quit for two years. Time to man the hell up and do it for good.
Had a reality check when I spent last week helping my parents with some home improvement projects and realized how much heavier shit got since last time we worked on the house. Time to make some serious changes.

Ugh, after moving and starting a new job I have yet to get back into a workout routine, and I really feel it. Plus side, I have abstained from dipping and really throttled back on the drinking (having a job does that, sigh).
Today though, I am taking to the woods for the first time turkey hunting! I'm on my second year of a nesting and brood-rearing study and these damn birds have caused me enough headaches...time for revenge! Yesterday I picked up a POS mossberg maverick and a pawn shop for $150 to use for hunting. Patterned well enough, but holy shit, turkey loads are hard on the ol' shoulder.

Now I know why you have those shotgun shells on your rig. Very nice. I wish I could turkey hunt on the trails I walk on. I could bag one or two a week.
ETA Some running, lots of pushups, extra hours at work, 1 good range session, started looking up MMA type gyms, this week. Not really sure if I have time for the last one but it would be a good thing to do.

Finished week one of 100 pushups and two hundred squats. Those last couple of pushups really require exertion, which I assume is a good thing. The last couple squats tend to hurt pretty well, my legs have been sore since I started all of this and there is no sign of stopping soon.
Still no soda. Already feel noticeably better and pants are starting to fit looser. Started putting coconut sugar and powdered coconut milk in my coffee instead of "coconut flavored coffee additive of death." Doesn't dissolve as well, doesn't taste as good, but whatever.
Nice looking birds OM, I bet they'll be mighty tasty. I should probably take a page from your book and start laying off the tobacco too. Kinda cutting off one crutch at a time though.

Why are you shooting Jakes, OM? J/K, nice birds dude! We don't open for a bit yet, and I'm sick of playing the lottery game our money hungry DNR has instituted for birds. I'm tossing my cash at the big lake and going for spring Browns this year.. I've been steadily getting rid of crap. Yes, that's not glorious, but damnit it's awesome to see worthless, space hungry Chinese clutter head out the door and into someone else's house while I get the cash. Consolidate, plan, and purchase. New bike on the horizon (hopefully soon!)
