Tis is why I stick with AA lithiums. Period. C123's are nice and all, but AA are the most common form factor, and lithium rechargeables are easy to get. OK, so my take away from this recent conversation is that if you get lithium AA batteries, you can store them indefinitely in the object and they won't leak/damage it? Is that correct? Any particular brand you use? Correct. The advantages of lithiums are as follows: -1/3 to 1/4 the weight of alkies -4-5 times the shelf life -Lithiums don't leak -Higher operating range (both in cold and heat)

Huh. That's fascinating. I had no idea. I will henceforth only buy lithiums for my 'prep' batteries.
