First, I'm not a picture posting type of person. If any photos do occur it will either be from SCBrian or OM. As I posted in another thread, I recently purchased a 2013 FJ Cruiser with 36K miles (low mileage for the win!) So far here are my list of upgrades I planned on doing (not in any particular order, just how they flow out of my brain) ... Weather Tech floor matsDone 11/15/16Lockable Safes for Firearms ( www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W86TU3M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )Done 12/18/16Dual Battery Setup- Install second battery tray behind passenger headlightDone 12/18/16- Install battery (Picked up an Optima D34 Yellowtop www.optimabatteries.com/en-us/yellowtop-deep-cycle-battery/d34 )Done 12/18/16- Install dual charging system (bracket made, continue with install: www.amazon.com/CTEK-40-155-Charging-System-Package/dp/B01AXRA6Z8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480608570&sr=8-1&keywords=ctek+off+road )Done 01/28/17CB Package: www.walcottradio.com/complete-toyota-fj-cruiser-cb-radio-system-big-bill-combo-p-1090.htmlDone 2/4/17Light Bar and Lights - 2x 12800 lumen spots (bumper) - 2x 1500 lumen left facing floods - 2x 1500 lumen right facing floods - 2x 3000 lumen rear facing floods - 1x 22,000 lumen front facing roof flood/spot combo (yes, when I turn it on "Here Comes the Sun" will start playing on the radio)
Done 02/18/17
Running some 12v outlets to the cargo area off the aux battery.Done 09/20/17Just going to get a proper lift kit with upgraded shocks and be done with it. Got one I am eyeing up at the moment purchased through Toytech ( toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/3-Lift-W-Bilstein-5100-Front-Coilovers-FJ4RunnerGX_p_365.html ) Done 11/14/17UCAs toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/25480--SPC-Adjustable-Upper-Control-Arms-for-FJ-Cruiser-03-Current-4Runner-and-03-Lexus-GX470GX460_p_196.html
Done 11/14/17OM talked me out of the Dick Cepek tires for a set of Mastercraft, waiting for other upgrades to be done first, oh, here's the tires: www.onlinetires.com/products/vehicle/tires/mastercraft/295%252F70-17+mastercraft+courser+mxt+121%252F118q+owl.html Done 11/14/17Rock sliders (aka Stump Sliders for swamping) : reszfab.com/product/fj-cruiser-rock-sliders/
Done 11/22/17Front bumper upgrade w/winch: reszfab.com/product/resz-fab-3-hoop-stinger-v2-fj-cruiser-steel-bumper/ Done 12/03/17Winch 5 ton (Warn is the gold standard: warn.com/truck/winches/vr10.jsp ) Done 12/03/17I ordered Jerry Can holders. 2x2 5 gallon fuel, 1x2 5 gallon water. And got 4 20L Nato Jerry cans from Wavian and 2 5G water cans from them too.Done 4/30/18Freezer (more research needed, but looking at the ARB 50L: store.arbusa.com/ARB-Fridge-Freezer-50-Qt-10800472-P3626.aspx ) I ended up going with the one from ironman 4x4, 3 years warranty on material and 5 years on the compressor. ironman4x4america.com/icecube-fridge-50l/Done 5/17/18Adding a roof rack, the factory one is all but useless, bajarack.com/?id=racks_list&model=1&anio=2013I went with a different rack but still BajaRack:bajarack.com/?id=racks_list_inside&idRack=14Done 10/1/18Rear drawer system (Again, ARB to the rescue!: store.arbusa.com/OUTBACK-SOLUTIONS-ROLLER-DRAWER-2106-x-4114-x-1102-RD1045-P22674.aspx ) For now, I'm just building a basic compartment system to hold stuff from rolling around. Front window defrosters (from what I hear, the factory ones are 4" over the wipers so the wipers tend to stay frozen to the windshield. I travel north often enough to want to add these: www.mirrorliteco.com/northwind.html www.frostfighter.com/clear-view-front-wiper-defrosters.htm ) Solar for longer Aux Battery usage without starting the vehicle: www.amazon.com/dp/B008PAZ65G/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=Wiper blade upgraded to: www.scrubblade.com/Finally a mod that some dude calls the "SCUBA Diver Mod", which can be found here: www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/4x4-off-road-tech/97966-fjnewbs-scuba-driver-mod.htmlThen I'll worry about a damn trailer! Edit: updated 10/15/18, moved completed items to top of list

Nameless, let me know, I'll dig out the good camera and swing buy one day if you'd like. Or if you're going for more of a presentation shoot, I know a few locations that have good backdrops...

Dont take these as criticisms, just points to consider: Just make sure your axles/engine is rated for the bigger tires/torque/etc. I see a poor Camero running around here every so often on 26's (May be bigger, still looks like shit) and I can only shake my head at the damage he's doing to the drive train because of the added torque/weight. Come to think about it, I haven't seen that Camero lately... My only question on this is how do they ensure that something doesn't happen to spray some of the fluid from say the differential into the transfer case, etc. (Wasn't going to read all 39 pages) I like the thought behind it. Keep the breather hoses up away from water, but I scratch my head at running them into a manifold where there is a chance for cross contamination?? Also, any plans to snorkel her? (till thinking about armor under the vehicle, tons of skid plates) Keep in mind the gross weight of the vehicle and what the suspension/engine/drive train can handle. (Refer back to #1) Otherwise they all sound cool!!

(Refer back to #1) Otherwise they all sound cool!! After reading a bunch of forums, 33s are fine and some even have 35s, it's when you go over that size when people start commenting on issues with the factory parts. Btw, factory tires are 31s. As to cross-contamination, I really need to read all the posts on that thread to see what they say. You know me well enough to know I'll be doing research prior to actually doing the mod. I could also just have a breather for each one. I know I have seen kits for the differential. I already planned on a stiffer suspension since I know it will be needed since this one is what I call "cushy". Rides nice but I know the added weight will warrant something more substantial. ARB actually has a calculator to select the proper shocks etc. Snorkel is also on my list, but that would probably happen around the same time as the SCUBA mod which is a while off. I would also need to protect the electronics such as the dual battery kit. When I start adding stuff, we'll talk about photo ops. Thanks again SCB.

I am still debating between a small air compressor or going with a CO2 system from powertank: www.powertank.com/I'm not a welder, that's my brother's schtick. If I go down the road and build a trailer, I'll add a welder to it. I got enough stuff going on under the hood already Keep all the comments coming.

I'd lean towards the small compressor.....you don't need to refill it. If you did the air tank/bumper along with a small compressor you could add an air line and a small selection of air tools. ON a different tack, how about a cleanable/reusable high performance foam air filter?

Here's something else to consider....a bypass oil filter. linkI don't recall where I saw this recently (might even have been on this forum ). Normal oil filters are (apparently) filter down to around 20 microns, as going smaller would reduce the throughput to the point that your engine would not have enough oil flow for lubrication. These bypass filters send just a fraction of the flow from your normal oil filter to a second filter than goes down to 2 microns, and due to the rate at which oil is being circulated in your engine you will run all of the engines oil through this second filter every 2-3 minutes...essentially giving yourself the flow rate of a 20 micron filter with the filtering power of a 2 micron filter. Why is this good? Because the reason you change your oil at 3k (6k for synthetics IIRC), or whatever service interval your manufacturer recommends, isn't because the oil is "breaking down" and loosing it's ability to lubricate. It's because your oil is dirty and the contaminants increase the wear on the engine. IIRC the guy who was talking about this is an engineer in this field, and he now gets 60k miles between oil changes. He mentioned that commercial aircraft use this principle in order to reduce the wear and tear on the engines. While I'm not suggesting you try to get 60k between oil changes, I'm thinking the reduced wear and tear on your engine will be worth adding one of these even if you stick to the original service interval. It's also something I'd think about putting on a generator to extend it's life.

Update, dude that was suppose to come over to take measurements for the bracket hasn't come in 2 weeks. Going to try one of the local radio installation places to see if they have someone capable of making a bracket. Also the wiper defrosters lists their distributors, but no one seems to carry them. WTF?! Switching to : www.frostfighter.com/clear-view-front-wiper-defrosters.htm

Update. Found a place on Cross County Road to make the bracket. I got it back yesterday, now I just need to mark it up for holes to drill and I can continue on with the CTEK system install.

Dual battery charging system is in place. I was worried I would screw something up so when it was time to connect to the batteries, I had my neighbor come out and make sure I didn't fry the auto or myself. All went well and the charger is working on both batteries. Will update original post.
Also ordered a CB package.
SCB, I'll have to get together with you once all the interior stuff is complete and get some pics done.
Edit: when I crawled under the vehicle I noticed most of the under components are already armored up. Just need to get some on the lower suspension components.

Check around at any big truck stops near you and see if they have a CB shop, and get it peaked and tuned. For your average 4wheeler I wouldn't urge the peak and tune, but I'm guessing you also have emergency use in mind as well so you may as well get as much out of it as you can. BTW, while it's a violation of FCC regs, there are amplifiers out there that will boost a CB signal from the legal max of 4 watts up to 100 watts.....making it a very "loud" signal. Not something anyone should want under normal circumstances, but if someone were stuck far far away from civilization and beyond cell phone signal I would wager that they'd like to be able to shout quite loudly on channel 9.
