Picked up 8 more standard capacity pistol mags of various types and some more ammo. Need about 15 more pistol mags split between 4 pistols (with the other pistols I have enough mags).
Also gotta get that one pistol sold to fund that 9mm AR and maybe a Glock 21SF (failing that perhaps that Lone Wolf .45 ACP longslide & barrel).
If/when I get that 9mm AR that uses Glock mags I'll have to get some of the 33/34 rd Glock mags. More than likely they'll be evenly split up between OEM mags and those ETS mags (unless someone on here adamantly states that they suck).
Thoughts on optimal number of rifle and pistol mags?
I've always thought that for centerfire "Battle Rifles" it was somewhere between 20-30 standard capacity mags per rifle.
For semi Rimfire Rifles (E.G. : Ruger 10/22) and Pistol Caliber Carbines (Ruger PC9, Beretta CX4 Storm or Rock River LAR-9) that are in the "Fun Gun" category it's usually been around 10-12 mags per platform.
For double stack "Duty Type" pistols the number of mags I usually have hovers somewhere around a dozen mags per gun. In practice for me it depends on how much I'm shooting that particular pistol, price of the mags themselves and varies as much as between 7 mags and 15 mags per gun. The one exception are Browning High Power mags for which I have scads of those.
If it's a single stack concealable carry type gun I've had as many as 9 mags per gun, as few as 3 mags and in one case the only mag I had was the mag the gun came with.
Thoughts?

Looking forward to hearing everyones thoughts about that. For me, ( a decidedly non-tactical guy) anything more than 3 or 4 per gun is gravy. I have a lot of G17/19 mags, but that's because i have a bunch of guns that use that particular mag. Ditto the rifles, i think i maxed out at 12 for each type.
I can't easily envision a situation where i would burn thru 4 mags in a gunfight (and survive), so i expect i would have time to reload afterwards . There is always the really good chance i would lose mags, so having extras is a big plus. But not sure if i need dozens of spare mags.
what about the rest o ya'll?

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your interpretation of the odds, just that I'm not going to base my plans and contingencies on the premise that all is lost. I plan on two parallel tracks: ....That I'm the meanest/luckiest son of a bitch to walk the Earth and that I'll be around until the Earth dies, and maybe much longer. ....That I'm dead even before the balloon goes up and those that I love and care about will need supplies, tools, and planning in order to make it through whatever comes so that they can be " the meanest/luckiest sons of a bitches to walk the Earth and that they'll be around until the Earth dies, and maybe much longer". The preps are essentially the same, just one scenario has me physically present, the other just in spirit. If I can cover both of those, then all should be as well as could be planned for. Stack the mags and ammo deep enough that your grandchildren and great grandchildren won't have to reload.

My 2c! I have yet to have a magazine expire on me. Ammo expires on me all the time. I have more confidence in the amt of mags I own vs ammo. I'd rather spend money on ammo at this point. Ammo has been the most volitile in price vs impact on my ability to play vs mags. I can always play with 5 mags, but no boolitz makes me sad. I don't really feel the need to have a certain amt of mags per each gun. Doesn't hurt my feelings if someone else does tho . I'm good with an amt with guns using the same mags. I probably have about 25 ea gmags and sig mags that all my g's and sigs can use. I have over 50 556 mags that all my rifles can use. Anything outside those caliber I own I consider fun guns and I don't stack them the same. The amt of mags I own now will realistically outlast me at the rate I go play. Yo experience may vary. Things I want to shop for now are more reliable optics for a few rifles. I just spent a pile on a couple of cans that will cover my 'practical' needs for the foreseeable, and was an investment against upcoming legislation. I mostly spend my time trying not to buy new guns haha. Want a 308 ar or bolt. Want a 300 system I can use my new can on. Want everything sig makes. My very best advice is to recognize prices absolutely will not be better than they are right now. People are going to get antsy any minute now (I guess July) and the panic buying will start. Another tragic incident could change things any time. I don't really see any outcome of the incoming election having a good effect on prices. Psa has good ar mags at $7. That's amazing. Magpul has driven factory gmags below $20 a mag. That's amazing. 9mm is at 17c a round for steel, 556 is at 22c. It just isnt going to get better than that I don't think.

Well i have umm 50 ish AR 30 rounders and a few 20/10 rounders. If i go out in full battle rattle its like 6 to 8 mags for the AR. The rest are just in case i destroy a few i have extras. So total AR that's 12 mags per rifle. Glock 33 rounders i have 4 just for fun more then anything , then about 8 of the standard 17 round mags. BX 25 mags for the 10/22 i have 4.
Mostly i good on mags that i will use i just like to have a few extras just in case. Now i am not a pirate or anything like that but, If this election goes crazy and stuff i may unload a few of my extra mags for a profit ( unless your from here then it will be reg price). I will keep my 100 round duel drum for the Ar it looks cool.

Right now I'm averaging probably 15 mags per centerfire rifle, and 12 mags For each centerfire pistol. For .22 pistols & rifles I've at least 6 for each.

Really, it sounds like we're all about in exactly the same place as far as mags go.
For me it's not an absolute number where I have to have 30 exactly of this and 10 exactly of that. It's more round about than that. Some will be more available and cost less than others and some I'll end up liking to shoot more than others.
Need some more AK mags (have eleven 30 rd mags and 6 20 rd Hungarian tanker mags...unless some are hiding somewhere) and some more G23 and CZ mags the most. Other than that mostly I'm good. Maybe another mag here and there.

You need to turn a section of brass rod to bore size, then load it into a shell. A Classy Penetrator, 'cause I heard you enjoy penetration.

I debated picking up 4 blem lowers, you know, just to have. I picked up two Anderson's, but they aren't for me. Got em for the two remaining nephew AR's.
