Just got back from a trip to Florida, and if you Eastern, Southeastern U.S. members get a chance, try Blue Point Toasted Lager. HOLY SHEBANG!!!! One of the best beers I've ever had, no foolin'. Fantastic. Medium weight beer with almost a pistachio taste, smooth as hell, good for a winter or summer beer. Do yourself a favor and try one out.
ALSO, to Omegaman, I went back to my podunk birthplace in Illinois to visit family and friends, and ordered a PBR on tap from a local hole in the wall. Damn pleasant. I tend to ignore the old domestics I grew up with, but it tasted like home, you know?

Guiness here...I;d drink ti all the time if I could afford it. Next to that, Stella Artois. For the "let's get drunk stuff", either PBR or Milwaukees Best Ice.

I know our Carolina boys can get beers from Lazy Magnolia Brewery, not sure how far from the south and near south they spread, though. If you can find it, I can personally recommend Southern Pecan (a brown ale made with...wait for it...PECANS!) and Southern Hopspitality (get it? It's 'hospitality', but with 'hops' hidden in the word - - because it's an IPA...get it?! hahahahahahahahahahahhaha!). So clever those southern lads. Anyway, the Southern Pecan is just damn fine drinkin', paired with pretty much any form of tobacco or grilled meat that I could possibly think of. The IPA fills a nice niche for me. I often ruminate that hoppy beers aren't that good for sitting on the porch and sipping after you've spent a long day in the sun working. Enter Southern Hopspitality. It's like a light beer, but not shitty! Really nice hop bite, crisp and clean, doesn't make your tongue numb or make you start crawling around looking for water to chase it with. Come to think of it, since I spent damn near all day working out in the yard, I might be drinking one right now...

Will readily second the Southern Pecan. Great beer, just can't get it up here - have to snag some next time I get close the Mason Dixon.

Looking for some REAL meade...anyone know where I can find some??? Or a brand name??? How 'bout you south-cacka-lacky boys??? Any stores in Colombia sale it??? I'd suggest you make it yourself, it's easier to make than beer and you'll have a superior produ t with little effort. 15 pounds of honey 5-ish gallons of good, non chlorinated water 1 packet of champagne yeast 1 tablet yeast nutrient One 5 gallon glass carboy with air lock. Sanitize with a bleach/water solution. In a medium saucepan, bring 3 cups of water to a boil and stir in 3 tablespoons of sugar and one tablespoon of lemon juice. Cover and allow to cool to 98 F. Stir in one packet of champagne yeast and cover. Let this sit while you prepare the rest. In a very big pot (stainless steel, no aluminum... aluminum will not be good) add 3 gallons of water and bring to a simmer. Slowly stir in all of the honey and bring to a boil while skimming off any foam that rises to the top. Turn off heat and cover. Allow to cool until you can touch the side of the pot without pain. Pour 1gallon of room temperature water into the carboy, then add the yeast nutrients. Mix wellbby sloshing the carboy back and forth. Now add the half the honey and water mixture, then the yeast culture from the saucepan. Mix well. Add remaining honey and water mixture. Install airlock and wait, (keep it in a cool dark place) about 1 week or when you have less thannone bubble per minute through the airlock. Siphon into champagne bottles, wine bottles, or in a pinch PET soda bottles... anything designed to hold carbonated beverages without exploding. If you want sparkling mead, add a few drops of sugar water to each bottle before filling. Wait a minimum of 2 weeks before trying. Enjoy.

Did somebody say Fall seasonal beers?!?!
They are just hitting my area, so I haven't lost my mind yet, but I did pick up a Sam Adams Fall Seasonal pack the other day. Two of each of the following:
Boston Lager Octoberfest Hoppy Red Bonfire Blonde Maple Ale Toasted Caramel Bock
All were tasty, Bonfire Blonde was really different, but probably my favorite of this batch. It was a blonde, but had some kind of smoke flavoring added. Wasn't sure at first, but after the first few sips it really grew on me. One of my bitches about the Sam Adams seasonals is you can't generally find the different flavors sold as a stand-alone six pack. I would definitely buy a sixer of the Bonfire Blonde!
Also, Tin Man 'Herald'. This is seasonal from a local production brewery, so you may or may not be able to get it in your AO, but it is friggin' fantastic if you like pumpkin beers. Billed as an 'imperial pumpkin ale' it hits you like a heavy IPA, but has a big pumpkin bit as well. Really good!
What are some of you all's favorite fall seasonals?

Just tried a new Double IPA from Bell's called Mars. Chewy stuff! If you like the hoptasticness, this is a good one. Won't melt the enamel off your teeth, but definitely a mouthful.
Bell's is a Michigan based brewery, so NXP and Kutter should definitely be able to find it. That said, it's a pretty well-established 'micro', so it might be available substantially outside their immediate area. It's at least available as far south as Southern Indiana/Northern Kentucky.
