Just picked one up for my wife for Christmas to carry when her permit gets in.
Figuring out the best carry option for her and getting her to carry is going to be the hard part. As much as I hate the idea I have a feeling she is going to purse carry.

. I kinda wish the 42's grip was .25" longer and carried one more round. This right here. The stock is not bad, at all, but requires a bit more attention. An extra 0.25" could be fixed with an extended baseplate but damn it glock, I don't want to buy something extra when this could have had a factory 8 round mag. I'd also like to see Glock make a 10 rd mag for this. There is a kit out there that has a different follower and grip that adds one rd to the mag. Those are $20. The 42 is not perfection but it's very good.

If I end up with a G42, I'll have the Vicker's floor plates on the mag.
Moment of truth there, GBM - You've got the G26 and the G42,
What sees more pants time? (Unless you use a shoulder holster for either, at which point I'm going to question exactly how small you are, internet weight lies be dammed...)

I constantly carry the 42. The 26 is just around every once and awhile.

Are we really expecting a 9mil G42 this SHOT show? If so Ill hold off on the Shield.

That's what the word on the street is, a single stack 9 from perfection is supposed to show.
I want to see it. In grand things Glock, ASSuming that it's in the same vein as the G42, it won't be as thin as a PF9, but probably still in the neighborhood as an XDS9 at around 1". At that size, it's redeeming factor will have to be it's cost, as there's already a ton of single stack poly's out there in the 1" thickness area (XDS, Shield, Kahr, Beretta, Ruger, etc) - it's going to need to do more than just show up to the party, otherwise it's just there.
Now that both the Shield and Ruger have non-safety striker models in the low 400's, this better be money.

If glock does not come out with a single stack 9 I'm going to try the new ruger no safety gun. Buddy has 9s and it runs well and is small. Trigger is excellent and has real sights

I was really considering the LC9s pro with XS bigdot sights as a carry gun last night, I briefly had a LC380 and it carried well and was reliable for me. I kind of want to try Ruger autos, always been kind of meh about them but they're priced decently and seem to be reliable.
Hmm..well I need to decide. I want a small 9mm by spring.

Buddy of mine bought an Ruger LC9 when they first came out awhile back and we took it and a bunch of other guns to the range. He wasn't doing all that great with it, so I gave him a few tips and while he improved some with it he was saying he didn't really like it that much. I tried it and while I did better with it that he did I thought it kinda sucked too. Very long and heavy trigger pull, the grip seemed a bit short and the width/circumference seemed uncomfortable and as a result it seemed like it was hard to hang onto until I used a crush grip. No more jumping around or having to re-adjust my grip, but not exactly the most comfortable feeling gun I've ever shot. Maybe rent one before buying? I didn't like the Ruger LC9. - Went down to the lease today and put 100 rds offhand through an AR and 120 rds through that Walther PPS (including 20 rds of Rem 124 gr. GS just to see how it fed them, guess that's it's carry load). No malfunctions at all, but POA vs POI was off by couple inches low and to the left with those 3-dot sights and I wasn't able to adjust it (left my toolbox). I think I'm going to buy some other sights for it anyway. Was able to pull off some decent groups once I compensated for the sights. Actually meant to film tossing it in the dirt to see if the grip insert popped off, but actually forgot and if I had of remembered my father-in-law was there and he probably would have thought I was crazy. The XS Big Dot sights are the front runner in my mind for this pistol so far, been looking at those. Unless anyone has any other suggestions for something different. I really like the way it handled and felt in the hand. Fairly narrow for me, but that larger grip insert helped a bit. The smaller insert is so small it's a joke, I mean it makes the grip ridiculously small. I feel like I'm handling Zoolander's cell phone when that grip insert is installed. Can tell that this will be a favored piece once I get different sights (where my eyes don't keep getting drawn to the dots on the rear sights), possiblyprobably those Talon grips, a pocket holster along with maybe an IWB holster so I'll have both on hand depending on what clothes I drag outa my closet and a 6 and a 7 rd mag. Still going to probably get the Glock 42 at some point anyway though.

Glad your Walther worked, figures it would. I think the XS sights look perfect for a small carry gun, but haven't seen them in person. Its really hard to see different types of sights in person so Im just going to buy them along with some TFOs for my 229.
The LC9 I was looking at is their striker fired version, I do agree about the DAO on the hammer fired versions, its heavy and nothing special. This model also has no safeties. .GBM was saying his friends' gun has a nice trigger. The grip is almost too thin, though. Some Talons or a Hogue help out there. Buds has them for $350...pretty reasonable.
Anybody have experience with the Bushnell TR25?

MRgunsngear say the TR25 is muey bueno. Yeah, the LC9 and the LC9S are two different mechanisms. One is hammer fired and it blows. The "S" is striker fired and all sorts of awesome trigger. Really, thing feels match grade. I was pretty amazed. Then again, I think Glock triggers are awesome in their stock form.

One more reason to own a Glock 42.
I will be in my bunk.

Hadn't even heard that Ruger came out with a striker fired trigger. That's good. From what I heard they got a rash of complaints about that trigger and given what that super long/heavy D.A. pull is like I can understand why. That thing was horrible, same with the grip (I'm a bit particular on grip comfort). It is a good size though. One of the few single stack 9's on the market meant for concealed carry. So maybe that'll fix one of the main issues with it. Glad your Walther worked, figures it would. I think the XS sights look perfect for a small carry gun, but haven't seen them in person. Its really hard to see different types of sights in person so Im just going to buy them along with some TFOs for my 229 I kinda thought it would too, but because I got it for kinda cheap somewhere in the back of my head I was worried it was a lemon and the guy was passing it around for everyone to take a bite. Those XS Sights do look nice. They are a bit spendy though. I don't think this thing will be going anywhere so worth the investment. Usually I don't like smaller sized pistols, but this thing's a hit with me. Hopefully the Glock. .380 will be the same way. No, but heard good things. Try Homer, he's got one. I almost got one, but the Primary Arms was on sale at the time.
