Primary Arms is having a sale on their Micro's, never having owned one of these before and this being what I consider a good price which one? www.primaryarms.com/Primary-Arms-s/586.htmMD-06L or MD-06? I can't tell the difference except for the kill flash.

It looks like the only difference is that the switch is on the left.
I used to have this with the American Defense mount and killflash. It was nice very light bright and reliable on my ar or ak.

Having the switch on the left, might help a bit.
Now 100% or 1/3 co-witness?
I've only ever run 100% and then just folded down the sights to get them out if my way. From what I understand the Micro's make 100% co-witness difficult.

These are lower 1/3. I have also owned a comp M2 look alike with multi reticules that was pretty nice too, the stock mount was crap though but that was right when Primary Arms was coming out with stuff a good 5 or 6 years ago I am sure their stock mounts have improved just like everything else.
For $50 I say go for it, there are plenty of good reviews and torture tests on this model, I don't think you would regret it. I personally didn't like the lower cowitness and the field of view felt pretty small to me too. But when you think about the lower half of a full cowitness is kinda wasted especially if you have thick BUIS. The lower 1/3 is not obstructed or cluttered with BUIS in comparison. I never got used to it but I think it does have its merits. Either way I don't think you will find a better deal than this.

Cool, thanks for the feedback.
Ordered one of the P.A. RDS's and an American Defense micro mount.
More than anything else it's a test-bed to see if I like that size sight and if I do I'll spring for an Aimpoint T-1 or H-1. That's just a lot of money all at once for something that I'm not sure I'm gonna like. If I don't I'll just sell it (I'm sure someone will want a $49 Red Dot) and if I do like it I'll retire this one to a .22 and swap out with the T-1/H-1.

No problem. If you ever get an AK you can take it off the AD mount and throw it on an ultimak scout rail and it will cowitness very well too.

I will mount it on my M&P 15-22 and see if my girlfriend likes that kind of sight. Then go Aimpoint on the AR. I dig Eotechs but I think the Aimpoint would be better for my girlfriend to use for home defense. With the hours I am working she is home more than me. It makes more sense to set it up in a configuration that is best for her.

I wish they would come up with a more affordable T1 style like they did with the Pro. They have been out long enough that they aren't the new hotness anymore I am sure they could develop a cheaper model in the same style.

No problem. If you ever get an AK you can take it off the AD mount and throw it on an ultimak scout rail and it will cowitness very well too. I actually have a couple AK's. Tried that DD Samson rail segment that replaces the rear sight along with a Vortex Strikefire and I totally didn't like it. Whole thing was too top-heavy and it wasn't a cheek weld, it was a chin weld. Kinda gave up on RDS's on AK's after that. For AK's I just run irons, end up with 30 rd groups about the size of a fist @ 100 but with a bit of vertical stringing. Good enough for me. I've yet to buy or try an Ultimak. I am thinking hard on doing the same thing. I will mount it on my M&P 15-22 and see if my girlfriend likes that kind of sight. Then go Aimpoint on the AR. It makes more sense to set it up in a configuration that is best for her. Well the sale ends on the 8th (not sure if it's at midnight the beginning of the 8th or the end of the 8th), so you have a bit to decide. It is an ultra-cheap test bed for micro's. She could always try it out on that M&P to see if she likes it. Only thing I'm concerned with is the way reduced FOV in comparison with EOTechs (which are what I have the most time on). I wish they would come up with a more affordable T1 style like they did with the Pro. They have been out long enough that they aren't the new hotness anymore I am sure they could develop a cheaper model in the same style. They actually did, the R-1, but then they discontinued it. Not sure why. People bought them. Obviously not as often as they wanted them to (otherwise it would still be in production). Still, it was an affordable alternative.

I think they are coming out with a new version of the T1 and will drop the price on the original T1.
What Aimpoint needs to do is quit forcing their distributors to sell at certain prices. Other companies are catching up and when they catch up there are plenty of youtube channels that will test the sights for them. I don't need Larry Vickers to blow up a sight and drop it out of a helicopter to think it is awesome. If Tim Harmsen did it, that would be good enough for me.

That would be awesome if Aimpoint finally did that, they'd move a whole lot more Micro's if they'd just come down a bit in price vs their other models and what's available from their competitors (EOTech, Trijicon etc).
Volume sales instead getting just a bit more money per sight, seems to work for others. I'm seeing more and more people with EOTech or even Vortex vs Aimpoint these days. They still have their Mil and LE contracts though, so maybe civilian sales don't matter as much. The few shooters I know that own them usually got them in a trade rather than buying them new. Kinda says something.
Think they'll really start doing that and go lower once Aimpoint releases the T2 though? Seemed like the R1's were almost as expensive for the longest time ($550 and then once you got done with tax and shipping it was $600) and then they had them on sale when they discontinued them for like three-something (at which point I had zero funds to spend as luck would have it) and then boom, they were gone never to return.
From a couple searches it looks like the T1 and T2 will be sold side by side, but I can't see them coming down that much. Then again their Pro model is fairly affordable.

You might like the ultimak rail, it wasn't too heavy and the cheek weld wouldn't change. I went from a side mounted rail to a beryl style top rail and ended up with the ultimak before I sold my AK.

Yeah, that's one thing I noticed about those Ultimak rails...real low.
Not like that fucked up super-high mount I bought. That thing was expensive too ($105-$110 or something, can't remember).

About the same price I think. Instead of my normal research on whatever area I'm interested in I made an impulsive decision and just bought the thing. I don't even know where it is right now, it might be in the safe or my AR parts box. I should find it and frame it as a reminder to do my research.
