Glock stuck on a live round. Got a new Glock 26 3rd Gen and tried some older JHP's I had just to see if it would feed hollow points and to just get rid of them. Fired 9 rds without issue and the 10th got stuck in the chamber on a live rd. Couldn't rack it back, wouldn't go forward, couldn't disassemble it. Completely stuck. Never had this before in a pistol. I mean it was *STUCK*. Tried racking it as hard as I could, couldn't rack it back. Then tried taking the back sight, hooking it on the fence and ramming it forward in a punch...wouldn't budge. Rammed the shit out of it a bunch of times (I'll save you the pics) and left several marks on my fence before I finally tried a chunk of firewood, still no go. Finally took it to a local smith and he had to stick the slide in a padded vise and then he had this ratchet type deal to ram the grip forward, finally got it open and got the rd out. Apparently it almost fired out of battery. Saved by a millimeter of case because the gun hadn't lifted it into place. Says he's never seen anything like it. It was a Remington-Peters 115 gr JHP from the late 90's that left the factory with the case messed up. One guy in the shop was trying to say it was a reload because the primer was silver rather than brass colored, but that's how they used to come (silver), I don't reload 9, I've never bought reloads and I have the box it came out of. Weird huh? So inspect your ammo (guess I didn't because the case was bulged slightly at the base), but if you get a stuck rd like this try the stuff I did while pointing it in a safe direction to try and force the slide back, if not you need the shit the gunsmith had.

Wow. I know I'm guilty of loading a mag without necessarily inspecting the ammo. I had something similar, but not nearly that bad (I got it clear with the sight/bench push) with some old Romanian Tok ammo. Case was pretty mangled when I got it out of the gun, but you could definitely tell something was up. Luckily it didn't even make it into battery, but it was still a bear to clear.

Yeah, it sucked trying to get the rd to clear. Was using every bit of strength I could and it just wasn't doing it.
I've had stuck rds before, nothing like this.
Gunsmith was taking pics like a MF'er to document it. I pitched the other old JHP I had of the same lot. Screw that.
Gun test fired fine.

Well, I'm taking the plunge. Ordered some stuff from PSA, going to rebarrel one of my ARs to go 6.8--sorry GBM. COTS availability won the day.

I had the exact same thing happen using BVAC reloads recently. I couldn't believe how stuck it was! Did all the initial tricks you used, finally had success putting the top of the slide facing down on a concrete bench and gave the handle a mighty thwack with a brick. THAT did the job. Upon further inspection, the case was bulged directly above the rim. I inspected rounds after that, found a few more in that box and a few more in subsequent boxes. I won't be ordering that ammo again. I've never had anything like that happen with factory firsts, and will probably not worry about inspecting rounds as a general rule. As a bonus, I got to pound the shiz out my my Glock with a brick and a concrete bench, and it's none the worse for wear. Subsequent range trips have been trouble free.

The PSA was too strong for me. $149 for a 18" stainless barrel? How could I say no to that. No way, that's how. It'll have plenty of punch for as far as I have any business shooting at things, even though it doesn't have quite as much reach as the Grendel. Pics when everything shows up and gets assembled, of course.

If you can swing it, Magpul makes 6.8 mags. LWRC sells them on their site and that's the only place you can get them. I'm not sure why Magpul hasn't let them out into the wild. that would probably insure the survival of 6.8 from here to the end of all things. One of the big fail points with the 6.8 was the mags from some manufacturers.
6.5 suffered for years under the silly restrictions and not allowing the SAAMI specs to go public. 6.5 has finally been released into the wild and it's making mild noises. Now, if wolf can step up production on their steel case...

On inspection I just meant pour them out and take a quick look to make sure they aren't tweaked and maybe think about feeling for that slight bulge as you're loading them in. I'm not gonna get all obsessive and take the calipers to them or anything. Homie ain't gots time for that shit. Didn't use an adjunct (like a brick or a hammer) on the other end. Maybe that was the trick I missed, the 26 grip would've been a narrow target but it might've worked. Flipping it over on a concrete bench is a good idea if that's a safe direction. Not really any safe directions in my yard except straight down.

I've got some 6.8 SPC mags and ammo I'll sell you. I don't have a 6.8 anymore so it's not doing me any good.
