Everyone here pretty much knows each other, but that might not always be the case so I guess I should introduce myself a little. I never know what to say in these things so I'll just let her rip with a plethora of details. I'm Browning 35. I'm 41, married with a wife and one son and I'm a former refugee from Southern California who now finds himself in East Texas. I've been in EMS for almost 16 years this coming January, but I'm about as burned out as you can get so I'm currently back in school to become a surgical tech. I'm interested in all things survival/preparedness related. Right now we're working to become more prepared as far as food storage goes. I'm also an unrepentant gun nut, hunter and ultra-conservative with libertarian leanings. Oh, and my favorite color is grey/blue.

I hope your studies are going well, my wife recently became an RN but is looking to go back to school too(to get her BSN). All 'A's in the two semesters before, I'm going to have to repeat one class from this semester though. My wife's a RN-BSN. It took awhile and she graduated 5 years ago. Tough, but it was worth it. She loves it. Thanks. I am totally drunk with power. Seriously, pretty useless with the crew we have here though. I appreciate as it shows a level of trust, but I don't imagine there will be any need for very much moderation. The people that are here are all cool as shit. Thanks guys.

Welcome, my girlfriend and I are in healthcare. She is taking classes for LPN. I am going back and forth on whether I want to stay in this field. I am a little tired of being on the floor.

Welcome, my girlfriend and I are in healthcare. She is taking classes for LPN. That's cool. How long does she have left? Later on there are also LPN to RN programs. Yeah, I wouldn't want to be on the floor. One thing that's cool on the box is that you're only dealing with pt's for 20 mins to maybe an hour at most if it's a scene to hell and back from a trauma center and then you're punting them off to someone else. Same thing with the ER, but more pt's and longer times with them. On the floor you're pretty much stuck with them, so if you get a difficult pt that's basically it. They're there til discharge. One of the reasons I want to get into this new field, they're all knocked out. Maybe you could just try transferring out to a different dept if you're kind of burnt out on it. Still in healthcare, but doing something else. I don't know, just a thought.

Welcome! Thanks for taking on duties of overlord!
I worked in an admin hospital setting for four years. Good money, but lots of stress. I have nothing but respect for everybody working on the floor.
