All right folks, as has been often stated “elections have consequences”. I’m fairly certain our grand republic will survive in some semblance no matter what the outcome of the 2020 presidential and legislative elections, but I am looking into my crystal ball to see if I should start purchasing things now that might have… Availability issues… Depending on which way the pendulum swings. Off the top of my head:
1. Handgun and rifle magazines, basically anything over 10 round capacity. 2. Suppressors, or SBR’s.
I didn’t include ammo, because I always keep quite a bit on hand, and I don’t feel like ammunition is something that will realistically have onerous regulations slapped on it. I can weather any foreseeable ammo shortage panic by simply shooting a little bit less off of the supply I already have. I also didn’t include any evil black rifles on my list, because I have several and any purchases past that would be fun to have, not something I feel like I needed.
So, I am fast tracking purchase of magazines for all of my various rifles and handguns, since right now they are plentiful and almost giveaway cheap depending on the website I’m looking at. I am also likely to start the suppressor purchasing process sometime in the fall.
What about you folks? Any particular plans on your end, or anything you think I am completely missing?

I'll be picking up some more ammo and getting into reloading. Aside from that I'm in pretty good shape. Before the last elections I picked up a case of PMags and a case of PSA aluminum mags.
You might want to consider a couple of SBRs. Functionally AR pistols can fill the same role with less hassles, but keep in mind that when the Clinton Era AWB was in place none of it applied to NFA items, so having a couple of SBRs as "hosts" for uppers with things that may later be deemed naughty on pistol or rifle lowers might not be a bad idea.
A few Form 1 cans wouldn't be amiss either.
*Edited to add*
Body armor. Body armor might not be a bad idea for those who don't have any as of yet. I imagine the Maximus household is good on that, but as a side note I'm curious if the Po-Po in your area has moved up to rifle plates as daily duty wear for patrol officers (vs plates only for "events") With some of the stuff that's happened to officers in the last few years (NYC, ect) where they get ambushed...

Standard issue for our local department does not include any type of trauma plate, but officers have the option of upgrading to either an inert soft plate or an actual hard plate. The soft plate additional inserts I believe can handle handgun rounds up to .44 mag and maybe shotgun rounds? Hard plates obviously are for rifles. This is on your own dime, so I’m not sure how many officers opt for the additional inserts.
I know quite a few officers who, in addition to their “always on” soft armor, also have a plate carrier with hard plates they can access in case of a rifle threat or active shooter event. My feeling is that most officers are NOT using hard plates as part of their daily wear.

While I can understand why, it might not be a bad idea these days. Some bad actor putting a few rifle rounds into a patrol car while the officer is doing paperwork or whatnot would be a bad day. More likely I suppose in Chicago than in Mayberry, but then again people seem to be getting more...wiggy...than before pretty much everywhere. Putting a plate into the "normal" vest might be less likely to draw attention from the hiring authority than deciding to wear the dedicated plate carrier everyday....I imagine they'd see it as bad optics.
