Standard blurb regarding INCH Gear- Keep in mind that when looking for gear to go in an INCH bag durability and being bulletproof are just as, if not more, important than weight. Oh joy.
Stainless Steel Swedish Mess Kit, 1360 grams or about 3.5 pounds. Pro- Built like a tank. Distributes heat well so it doesn't get hot spots to burn your food as much (needs less stirring). Comes with bulletproof alcohol stove and windscreen. Cleans easily. Inexpensive (if you can still find them).
Cons- Weighs as much as a tank, or at least feels like it.
Heavy Canteen Ti Canteen, Ti Canteen Cup, Lid, and USGI aluminum stove, 313 grams or about 11 oz.
Pros- -Light. Very, very light. -Tough.
Cons- Expensive, like "go sell a kidney" expensive.
1.8 Liter Mors Camp Pot, 907 grams or 2 pounds.
Pros- -Very much a multipurpose pot. -Reasonable cost. -Moderate weight for it's volume.
Cons- -Round and fat, it's a bit harder to pack. -Aluminum dents easily.
Currently my choice is a stainless steel Swedish Mess Kit with the Ti Canteen and cup combo as backup. I'll deal with the weight of the Swedish Mess Kit on order to have it's brutally tough qualities and ability to be used somewhat like a dutch oven. The Mors Pot is probably a better shape for cooking, but I can just see me squashing it by stumbling into a tree and landing on it. If someone made a Ti Mors pot.....no,no, no, NO! I already sold a kidney for the Ti Canteen. I don't have another I can sell...
