During my vacation I was finally able to lay my hands on the Witness I purchased. WOW! It was as if a 1911 had made sweet, sweet love to a BHP and that this was the love child. Ergonomics are fantastic. I swapped out the stock recoil rod and spring for a tapered recoil rod and a 20 pound recoil spring as I was going to do some shooting with 220 grain Underwood rounds as well as plinking with 180 grain FMJ from Freedom Munitions.
Smooth, smooth shooting. Even my itty bitty wife of 92 pounds and tiny hands enjoyed shooting this gun. The grip is nearly as slim a a single stack 1911, and will be that thin when I swap out the grips for some custom made ones. To give you a <subjective> idea of how pleasant this was to shoot, my wife said that when fired out of the Witness the hot 10mm loads felt like standard (147 grain) 9mm out of a Glock 17.
Really, I love this gun, Points nicely for me, feels great in the hand, and inexpensive too. 14 round mags + one in the tube giving me 15 rounds of 10mm goodness to dispense at need.
After about 20 years of carrying Glocks of one flavor or another I'm seriously considering retiring or selling off my Glocks. My wife straight out asked me to replace her Glock with a Witness.
Oh, one other thing....her damn near new Glock rusted on the top left edge of the slide after a week of setting along side our camp bed in Alaska, whereas my Witness ("Wonder finish") which spent nights along side her Glock and days in a shoulder holster as I tramped through the woods in the rain and drizzle, ran a 20 ft skiff in the ocean, and set and pulled crab pots didn't rust at all. So much for the Glock's Tennifer finish.
So, yes. I like this one.
