CPD alerts cops that 3 West Side gangs plotting to shoot officerschicago.suntimes.com/news/cpd-says-three-west-side-gangs-plotting-to-shoot-cops/Leaders from three West Side gang factions allegedly met last week to discuss plans to shoot members of the Chicago Police Department in response to the fatal police shooting of Paul O’Neal.
The meeting took place Thursday between higher-ups from the Vice Lords, Black Disciples and Four Corner Hustlers, according to an alert issued to department members the day after the meeting.
The Four Corner Hustlers “provided guns” and have “a sniper in place” though authorities do not know where, according to the alert. The Four Corner Hustlers also are supplying the other two gangs with automatic weapons, which all three factions also have agreed to use against police, the alert states.
The three gangs are located primarily in the Austin and Harrison districts, which cover much of the West Side.
In an email Monday afternoon, department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said: “To safeguard the integrity of operations, the department does not comment on any security measures.”
According to police sources, department members have also been advised to “limit interactions and visibility.”
Dean Angelo, president of Lodge 7 of the Fraternal Order of Police, said “rhetoric” from the attorney representing Paul O’Neal’s family and statements from Independent Police Review Authority head Sharon Fairley were both to blame for threats against police.
“We had inflammatory and false rhetoric coming from [Michael Oppenheimer] and statements that weren’t true,” Angelo said. “You also have a lead investigator in police-involved deaths talking about how shocking and disturbing this is.”
“This should not surprise anyone that we have this type of antagonistic and threatening behavior towards police officers,” Angelo added.
The alleged agreement between the three gangs comes in response to the fatal police shooting of 18-year-old Paul O’Neal.
Police chased O’Neal into the South Shore neighborhood about 7:30 p.m. July 28 after he allegedly stole a Jaguar from southwest suburban Bolingbrook.
Video released last week showed a chaotic scene leading up to O’Neal’s death, with him being handcuffed in a growing pool of his blood.
The body camera of the officer who fired the deadly shot wasn’t recording, police said, and the Independent Police Review Authority has said there is no other camera angle that shows the fatal shot.
Three officers involved in the shooting were stripped of their police powers by Supt. Eddie Johnson.
The release of the video prompted a new wave of protests in downtown Chicago over the weekend, and one elected official — County Commissioner Richard Boykin — called it a “police execution” and demanded the officers be fired.

Milwaukee police officer takes brick to the head during violent protests after police shooting of armed manwww.nydailynews.com/news/crime/milwaukee-police-protesters-clash-fatal-shooting-article-1.2750208
Protesters hit a police officer in the head with a brick and set fires during violent protests in Milwaukee following the police shooting of an armed man Saturday.
A 23-year-old man who was one of two suspects who ran away from a traffic stop died after the shooting around 3:30 p.m. on the city's North Side, according to Milwaukee police.
He had a stolen semiautomatic handgun, and a Milwaukee officer shot him during the foot chase, according to investigators. Police said they captured the second man who fled from the car as well.
Milwaukee police said at least one officer was hospitalized and three squad cars sustained damage during the violent protests Saturday night.
Over 100 people demonstrated near the scene at N. 44th St. and W. Auer Ave. on Saturday night, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. An officer was hospitalized after the brick came through the window of a police cruiser, hitting the cop in the head, police said.
The crowd also set a gas station on fire at Sherman Blvd. and Burleigh St., according to the Milwaukee Police Department. Yet firefighters could not put out the blaze because gunfire had erupted nearby, police said.

Anti-cop note found at scene of deadly Philly rampage; gunman identifiedwww.foxnews.com/us/2016/09/17/suspect-reportedly-killed-after-2-police-officers-shot-in-philadelphia.htmlThe man who went on a deadly shooting rampage in Philadelphia after he shot an officer in an ambush had 16 prior arrests and left at the scene a “rambling” note expressing hatred for cops, according to reports Saturday.
Philadelphia police said Nicholas Glenn, 25, was armed with a 9mm Ruger semi-automatic handgun when he killed one person and wounded five others, including two police officers, overnight Friday. He was shot and killed by cops in an alley shootout.
“Obviously, he was hell-bent on hurting a lot of people,” Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said Saturday afternoon. Fox 29 Philadelphia said Glenn had been arrested 16 times in the past. Ross would only say that Glenn was well-known to police.
Ross said Glenn’s note was found at the scene in an envelope addressed “Doomed People.” The commissioner said the note was barely lucid and ranted about a probation officer by name and the police department. "This rambling suggests that he clearly was trying to target a police officer, as he did ... so it just kind of makes it very clear to us what he was out there to do," he said earlier Saturday.
Ross said police believe no one else was involved in the shooting which he described as “completely bizarre.” He said there was no indication Glenn had become radicalized. The shooting happened at around 11:20 p.m. in West Philadelphia, a few blocks from the University of Pennsylvania campus.
Fox 29 reported that Glenn fired 18 times into a car assigned to Sgt. Sylvia Young, a 19-year veteran of the force. Police said Glenn walked up to the officer and opened fire without saying a word. Young was hit eight times and some of the shots were deflected by her bulletproof vest. Two rounds hit her weapon, disabling it. Ross said Glenn was trying to assassinate Young and that it was "absolutely miraculous" that she survived.
The commissioner said Glenn then fired five shots into a bar. He hit a security guard in the leg and then grabbed a woman and used her as a human shield before shooting her in the leg. As police gave chase, Ross said Glenn then fired 14 times into a car, striking a man and woman in the chest. The woman, 25, was hit seven times and was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m. Saturday.
Two police officers and 56-year-old Eddie Miller, a retired cop who is part of the University of Pennsylvania police force chased Glenn into an alley, where he was shot and killed. Miller was wounded. Miller and Young, 46, were in stable condition. Miller was shot in the pelvis and right ankle. “She’s in good spirits given what she’s been through,” he said of Officer Young.
Friday's shooting was the second ambush of a Philadelphia police officer this year. In January, 30-year-old Edward Archer shot Officer Jesse Hartnett multiple times as Hartnett sat in his squad car.

L.A. County sheriff's sergeant is killed in Lancaster shooting; suspect is in custody
www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-deputy-shot-lancaster-20161005-snap-story.htmlA Los Angeles County sheriff’s sergeant was shot and killed in Lancaster on Wednesday while responding to a residential burglary call, setting off a manhunt for a gunman who tried to flee in the slain lawman’s cruiser and held two teenagers hostage before he was captured, authorities said. Sheriff’s officials identified the victim as Steve Owen, a 29-year department veteran who had previously won the agency’s highest honor for courage. He was the first sheriff’s deputy fatally shot while on duty in more than a decade.
“This has been a very dark day for the Sheriff’s Department,” Capt. Steve Katz said. “We are all suffering right now.” The shooting occurred shortly after noon as Owen, 53, and another deputy responded to a 911 call from a woman reporting a burglary at an apartment building in the 3200 block of West Avenue J-7, authorities said.
As Owen checked the rear of the apartment building, a gunman appeared and shot him. Owen's partner, who was at the front of the building, ran to the sound of the gunfire and found the wounded sergeant. The gunman, meanwhile, ran to the front of the apartments and jumped into Owen's patrol car. The deputy returned from the back of the building and opened fire at the stolen cruiser. The gunman threw the car into reverse and rammed a second patrol car, which struck the deputy and injured him, authorities said.
After the collision, the gunman jumped out of the cruiser and fled. He ran into a nearby home where two teenagers were inside. One teen was able to send a text message to alert authorities, Katz said. Shortly after 2 p.m., sheriff’s SWAT deputies forced their way into the home and the man fled through the back, where he hopped a wall, Capt. Jack Ewell said......
......The suspect, who was taken into custody, was struck in the upper torso by gunfire at some point during the incident, Katz said. Authorities did not name him, but said he is a 27-year-old resident of the Antelope Valley and is on active parole. A weapon was recovered, though authorities did not give a description.

Accused police killer Markeith Loyd in custody
www.clickorlando.com/news/accused-cop-killer-markeith-loyd-in-custody
The man accused of killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend and an Orlando police officer is in custody after a massive manhunt, according to the Orlando Police Department.
News of Markeith Loyd's arrested was announced on Twitter Tuesday night. A massive manhunt has been underway in Central Florida since Lt. Debra Clayton was fatally shot while trying to approach Loyd outside an Orlando Walmart on Jan. 9.
Loyd has been wanted since he was named as a suspect in the murder of his ex-girlfriend, 24-year-old Sade Dixon, in Pine Hills on Dec. 13.
Police did not immediately provide details on how Loyd was arrested, but Orlando Police Chief John Mina tweeted that they used Clayton's handcuffs to arrest him.
The news comes after Mina held a news conference Tuesday afternoon saying that Loyd may have shaved his head to change his appearance. With that announcement, officials released a digitally altered photograph of Loyd without his hair.

Yeah, it's been bat-shit crazy in a lot pf places for close to three months now. I live in the reddest county of a red state, so its been quiet around here.
I'm reading that officers are quitting or retiring early at noticeably higher rates in the affected cities, but I'm genuinely surprised there haven't been more Blue-flu sickouts.
