Uberti was able to make 1873 repros in .44 mag. I think they used stronger steel in the toggle-link, blued steel frames, and such. link I don't know if Winchester would go to the trouble of .44 magnumizing theirs....but ya never know. Years ago there were a couple lil 'ol ladies in the local CAS group with Cimarron 1873s with short-throw mods that made me and my Marlin 94 Cowboy Comp feel like Slowpoke Rodriguez.

Hmmm, I didn't know that (Uberti .44's).
Yeah, I guess some in CAS are already buying them and having them sent away to have them modified. Had the opportunity to shoot one on those short throw lever guns and it was pretty slick.

The last issue of American Rifleman had an article on the new Winchester 1873's. I don't think they're on the shelves, yet, maybe in time for christmas?

That's actually where I heard of their re-release first. (American Rifleman) Yeah, they better hurry then. Still haven't seen one in a store yet. If not then maybe tax return time.
