I've been into body guarding my kids from day one. It may seem weird but I totally take like I'm guard VIPs, because to me, I am. I open doors, scan around, keep them close and do all sort of BG stuff. I find it hilarious that ZERT is doing the exact same thing and have brewed up a training plan for it.
Anyone else take it like some sort of close protection detail?

So much better than ZS lol.
I guess I bodyguard my girlfriend in that manner, just didnt realize it. Im always scanning and basing what gear I carry on the risk and threat level. I'm sure when I have kids it will be much the same.

Yeah, scanning, keeping the gun hand clear while shopping. She usually drives, so I am free to blast carjackers or whatever. Opening doors especially car doors is a good idea. Keeps you on her side of the car until she is in the car and the door is closed. Getting in and out of a car is a time when people are more vulnerable due to less mobility. Setting mindset and ditching seatbelt early while arriving in the parking lot; "What weapons do I have?" "How will I handle an attack?" "Oh shit, we are about to go into a secured Gov. building and I didn't know before hand. Time to dearm and set fighting mode to bludgeonwithfoundweapon/punchelbowkneekick/chokebreakarms mode."

I will assume we all do that to one extent or another. Why well we all seem pretty on point with our plans to preserve our selves /family/friends/ public safety. Im single and i do a scan and the mental dump of the what if this or that so i should sit here or there, scan parking lot to see where people are and park accordingly. I pull my shopping cart with my left hand so it can be harder for someone to get up behind me to pick my pocket, grab me from behind and my strong/gun hand is free.

I was training a guy on gun disarms tonight. Welp, they work and taking a dummy gun to the mouth sucks. That is all.

...taking a dummy gun to the mouth sucks... I can only assume a real gun would suck ever-so-slightly more, but I try to limit forcible contact to taco and boobs
My wife is SO OVER my bodyguarding. I'm not the only one that brings a rifle in the car, am I?
(to clarify, 'car' is 2001 Suburban containing my wife and 5 kids)
On the up side, she likes to drive, and doesn't suck at it, so I get to ride AK (bc fuck your shotty)
Wife took EMT shears to one of my trauma bags bc it was in the way of her getting baby seat in/out. Never bothered me when I was doing it...

I have a buddy of mine who goes above and beybeyond on this. One of his kids is im middle school and they had a lockin/overnite type of event at a pizza place. When he found out there was no security for the place he spent the night in his car in the parking lot drinking coffee and smoking. Wasn't even a bad neighborhood or anything but thats the kind of protective dad he is.
