Whut? Why the fuck would he be telling you to run the charging handle during a tactical reload? I thought a tactical reload was when you had time to reload your rifle slowly and move mags around and stuff? Maybe to make sure there is a round in the chamber? The class was "tactical pistol one," geared to CCW aspects and to effectively apply to those with zero firearms experience and those who have some. Basically the lowest common denominator. His reasoning was that we wanted to make sure there was a round chambered and to built repetition for muscle memory of running the slide. So no retaining the mag either, basically perform a voluntary emergency reload. I asked why now just do a press check after a mag retained tac reload, and he said that was an "advanced technique." So was practicing draws where clearing cover garments and presentation was performed with a single hand. I pretty much Bruce Lee "take what is useful, discard the rest"'ed my way through the class. I retained about 85 percent and dismissed the other 15 as bullshit. I did things the way he instructed and didn't argue because I didn't want to be "that know-it-all argumentative fuckface" which I was dangerously close to being the whole class. I personally think tac-reloads should be done only when there is time and opportunity to be through enough to retain the partial mag, make sure the fresh mag is properly seated with a pull-push, and do a press check of some sort to make sure there is boolits in one's gat.

Three people including me. Way to small for that shit IMO. The other two doods had zero experience, local businesspeople he sold into coming to class. One dood almost holstered up with his finger still on the trigger.

Sounds like it should have had one less person in the class....the instructor.
