As previously mentioned, I recently placed an order with RTF for a "pile 'o kydex". I have been wanting some decent CCW holsters for my G19 an G29 for years, but never got off my ass (shit is expensive, too). After seeing RTF's TDI Raptor sheath and knowing his reputation after years on "that other board", I finally contacted him for an order.
First off, RTF is a cool dude and pleasure to work with. After a couple of emails I was really excited to get going on this project. The best part was working out ideas and ultimately supporting a talented craftsman, who I now consider to be friend.
So, here are a few pics:
I wanted a lo-pro IWB holster for my G29 that could function as an AWB or traditional IWB carry. I had been using a leather Don Hume (via Mister Dark via GMB ), but it is starting to show wear. The G29 is my daily carry, and it usually just rides in my work truck and donned when I venture out into the wilderness away from said truck. That said, now that I have a baby, I have been stepping up my CCW game for my weekly trips into town for gunpowder, ham hocks, cornmeal, and guitar strings (+ 1,000,000 internet points if you know what movie that is from ). RTF's AWB holster fits my requirements perfectly! I am also a big fan AWB carry now. Even with the bulky G29, RTF's holster securely and comfortably carries and conceals my piece with minimal (if any) imprinting while wearing an untucked flannel shirt.
For the G19, I wanted a holster that would supplement a Blade-Tech that is on my battle belt rig. This way, I can now opt to carry my G19 w/TLR-2 without having to remove the freakin' laser everytime or wear a battle belt! The holster can be worn IWB or OWB, with OWB being my favorite with this rig. The weapon rides high and tight and conceals great with a light over-garmet. Secondly, I had RTF include Malice clips, giving me another option to mount on a combat rig.
Both holsters securely retains their respective pistols, yet have a buttery smooth draw. A big reason I had never gotten fully invested in decent holsters (at least for CCW) is that the few times I tried something in the past (mostly Galco), I had been left totally disappointed. Not anymore.
I am hard on gear and I have no doubt that RTF's rugged construction will withstand my abuse. Coupled with excellent form and function, I am very pleased!
