Long Term Review of WMD NiB Bolt Carrier Group
I bought a WMD bolt carrier group on the 7th of Jan 2013. I bought it due to the claims of increased reliability, having to use no or little lube and that it was supposed to be easier to clean.
It was at my doorstep on the 19th despite the website saying that it would be Jan 31st before they started shipping. Pretty good CS despite the demand at the time.
I think that they're just giving customers the worse case scenario so that if/when it shipped earlier than expected they're pleasantly surprised, but if it takes the full time then they can say they fully informed everyone of the expected wait time.
Their price is on request now, so they might have gone up a little. I don't know.
Edit : The crossed out portion is out-dated (I cut and pasted part of my previous review). They are now as of today (10/11/2014) $175 for the BCG and $185 for the BCG and NiB coated hammer.

I paid $234.95 total tax, shipping and everything. Keep in mind that was at the height of the panic and everyone was freaking the fuck out and paying whatever just so long as it was actually in stock. $3,300 for $1,000 AR's and so on.
After it arrived I took a few pics and compared it to a BCM BCG. Both are Full Auto BCG's with good staking.

WMD and BCM BCG's shown side by side for comparison.
Initially I was going to buy a Fail Zero BCG due to another thread I read on their BCG which has the same exact claims, but their site went down a few times and I could never complete the order with Fail Zero. Rick from ZS and here told me about WMD and so I bought one of these instead.
Supposedly a few of the key employees that used to work over at Fail Zero now work over at WMD. I don't know if this is true, that's just what I've heard. I also don't know if there's a relationship between the two or not or if they just offer products that are very, very similar.
_______
First range trip was one Feb 17th 2013
Spraying it down in the parking lot of the shooting range. All shiny and new right?

Okay, so fast forward to a total rd count between 5,400 and 5,600 rds and 20 months later and the brightness is definitely gone.
I had a log book where I was keeping track of the rd count on my phone, but it took a shit on me and I ended getting a new phone. Hence no bullshit log book with an exact round count.
At any rate as gleaming as it once was this is no longer the case . This is right before I cleaned it today (600 rds since last cleaning).
This is right after cleaning including scraping the bolt, a 5 min soak in solvent, hitting it with a nylon brush and so on.
Fairly discolored.
I've been running it wet for the past 3,700 rds or so. I ran it dry for quite awhile to see if it lived up to it's claims, it did but I still started to eventually apply lube as I didn't want shear off a lug or something.
Figured it would get dull eventually, but right now it's looking like a dirty S&W stainless revolver before it's cleaned rather than after.
After I'd already owned it for awhile and already used Hoppes #9 (which has ammonia in it) I was told that ammonia would eventually discolor it. Maybe it's due to that and maybe the discoloration is just due to wear.
Finish is still slick to the touch, so that's the only thing that matters. Reliability has been flawless. I can't remember the last time I've had an issue with that rifle and I purposely don't clean it after every range trip. Been cleaning it between every 600 and 1,000 rds
I haven't seen any other round counts on the net that are that high on this BCG except by the manufacturer, so I figured I'd update it here since I can't do so on ZS.
So it's still going strong and I'm happy that I bought it. It has lost that new car smell and a bit of the finish gleam though. Not really that big of a deal.
