Ok, I broke down last week (or was it the week before?) and bought another Glock 26 with an FDE frame (Pics to follow) and it's cute. There is nothing any different about the gun other than me liking FDE. It's not a coating, the polymer is colored. Anywho, the intent of this thread to start from ground zero and track how absolutely bad ass the Glock 26 is. Yes, my Glock 26 with the black frame and thousands of round through it and have never malfunctioned. Yesterday I put about 60 rounds of HSM remanufactured loads though the new 26 without fail. I used the same ammo in my Glock 17 and had 3 malfunctions. Now, granted I blame the ammo for the failures to feed with the Glock 17 but the 26 ran the same ammo without issue.
Awesome. The gun shot point of aim/point of impact. Drawing from concealment, I produced a 1.6s and hovered around 1.8s. Shooting produced very small groups and recoil management was just as easy as the 17. The gun also digested 3 old as sweat cover Hornady Crit Duty rounds.
Round count: 60 Malfunctions: 0 as of 9/23/2014

G26 has been on my short list for a long time.

I want to like the 26, but my hands are too large to fit on them right and that grip extension feels a little weird. Felt the same way on a G-30 (reg) I had.
Maybe if I got one and shot it a whole bunch I'd feel differently.

G26 with Pearce +0s and Triji NS was my first semi handgun. 4k rounds and no malfs. Good little gun. Sold it to get in the AR game. Carried great, though. Want to get another 9mm Glock but am extremely torn on size and generation.

*gasp* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *gasppantgasp*
Now there a thread to mock my lack of tiny wondernine. Must. Get. Off. Kiester. Purchase. G26...
Every stinking time I tell myself I'm ready to buy, I either make an excuse or life happens. I think I've wanted a G26 for like 3 years now. I have it all picked out in my head - Gen4, GAP floor plates, Defoor sights to match my G17.
What the fuck is wrong with me?
Sigh.

What the fuck is wrong with me? You're probably poor like the rest of us. So many guns, so little time and money. --- Any advantages or disadvantages to the 4th gen vs. the 3rd gen?

I think "poor" is arbitrary - cheaply practical might be a better description, personally.
I usually default to ammo or things to run my existing 9mm's. Then spend the rest on family and other hobbies outside of shooting (which in reality is a small hobby compared to the rest).
Doesn't stop the want of a Gen4G26.

Well I was more talking about my own lack of money and trying to bring you in on it to feel better about myself, that totally didn't work out. I do things pretty much the same way that you do (family first, ammo and sometimes spending it on other things besides shooting), but I'm somewhat of a dyed in the wool gun nut and those and hunting are my primary hobby and I do enjoy me some new ones. So why the 4th gen over the 3rd?

Doh! My bad, B35. If it helps, I'm the cheapest mofo out there I know of (and have been told as much also from friends), so in my own sick little mind I'm still poor.
Well, a couple things stand out with the 4th Gen for me -
1) The frame texture - my G17 is an RTF2, and while they won't be making a G26 in RTF2, the Gen4 is close enough to regular RTF that I appreciate it over the Gen3 texture. 2) Oversized mag release. Sure, I could spend the money and get a Vickers or do the ol' G21 trick, but factory 4G is bigger than factory 3G so it's one less thing to buy. 3) Minor improvements here/there with the recoil spring/grip pieces, etc. They don't add up to much, but for the minor amount more than a Gen4 is over a Gen3 I'm happy to pay the difference.
Would I be happy if a Gen3 showed up at a crazy good price and I bought it? Yup. Wouldn't phase me in the least.
The kick in the jimmy is, a couple months ago I spotted a used Gen4 G26 on the rack for just over 4 bills - phenomenal deal for our area - and I had just dumped a kilo into the wife's car so she could get to work. Just wasn't meant to be at that time, hoping that someday I'll be in the right space/time area and get another.
That's how I got my RTF2 - patience and persistence. It's out there, I just have to find it.

No worries, my attempt at poking fun at my economic woes fell short. - Thanks. I was just curious as to the want of a 4th Gen over a 3rd Gen. The next Glock I get will probably be one of those .380's for a ' going to get milk in the suburbs gun' and after that a Sig 10mm if they're out by then. After that I was thinking of giving Glock sub-compacts with the Pierce finger extensions another chance. That's down the road though.

What's that quote about the mark of democracy is each humble cottage of the working man having a rifle over the fire place? Yupe....

Not familiar with it, but I like the idea of it. I also like the quote by a Japanese officer during WWII about not being able to invade the mainland U.S. because there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.
I've also read that this quote isn't real. Even if it is fake, I still like it.

That quote seems fully debunked as fake, but I still like it. I also like "A rifle behind every blade of grass means shit when they napalm yo ass."
My install manager scored an FDE G27 a couple months ago. Fucker has all the cool toys. This was after tons of conversation involving what had to happen to get the guy to carry more consistently. The subcompact in a dedicated appendix holster was the answer. I'm glad I badgered him into the Glock as much as I did, I hated seeing somebody with 3x more guns and 10x more money not carrying as much as my broke G17 toting ass.

Devil tempted me hard tonight -
Found a FDE 3Gen G26 that had been all dolled up with a Punisher plate, silly high adjustable sights, extended mag release and a GFA on the back for $475 - one mag. It'd been shot lots, wear on the usual spots. Store wouldn't budge on the price, kind of bummed - if they would play ball a little it'd be in 2 day jail waiting to come home.
They also had an FDE G19 all dolled up with a cheap red dot on the rear sight riser/mag release/GFA/something on the magwell - wanted a bit for that one too....
