I am trying to recover from a severe chest cold. Maybe it was the "flu" maybe it was not. I could feel it coming on, on Sunday December 22, so I stopped by WalMart for cough syrup and chicken noodle soup. I thought just one bottle of cough syrup would do it. WRONG! Luckily, I had stocked up and had other bottles stashed elsewhere in the house.
I knew it was going to be bad that I was going to miss Christmas activities with friends and family.
When I cracked open that other bottle and chugged about a quarter of it, POOF! instant relief!
Maybe it was part placebo effect, but I was so glad, so mentally relieved I wasn't going to have to drive back out to the store in the cold to stock up, for one, and for another, being able to relax knowing that I was going to sleep better that night.
Anyway.....just my musings as seen from my own little world just lately. It's those little creature comforts that really add up.

Booze. Will not go on without it. Moonshine is the best bang for the buck...I mean..umm...biofuel. I would also need something to play some tunes. A world without the Ramones, Clash, Weezer, or the Police is also not worth living in.

I actually stock those luxury items for barter...my thought process on it? There are enough diva's in the world that when things go bad? They'll "pay" for that clean hair, regular feminine pad (versus say...a Diva cup or homemade) and smelly good pits. Hope you're feeling better caltrop.

Booze. Yes. That is an essential part of the preps. Since my moonshine making partner moved on me, I might have to get a kitchen still of my own, a good biofuel can not be beat! I also keep beer on hand. Not a lot, but enough for that taste when I need it.
Smoking. I like my pipes, and I have found that tobacco will stay smoke-able for a Loooonnng time if kept properly moist. I have several types of tobacco store in simple, seal-able, glass containers. I will run out of lighter flints and fuel before I run out of tobacco. I also love my hookah. I can not imagine not having one around for those laid back evenings when it's raining (or snowing) and nothing else can be done.
Although I am not as accomplished a guitar player as OM, I do love to play. A guitar is necessary. I would also like to find a hand crank record player. If I could find one of those that played albums at the right speed, I'd invest in vinyl again.
Pizza. OM and I were talking about this one late night by a fire in the mountains, and I mentioned that pizza sauces and crusts and cheese--freeze dried and Parmesan--were a part of my preps. Just think; you've just fought off the Zombie Hoard of 2014, wouldn't a pizza and a beer be nice?
Books. I'd miss the hell out of a good book.
