Kind of a horrible idea to have a Con-Con right now at this particular time.
Why not wait until the odds are more stacked in your favor?
Constitutional Conventions scare the shit out of me. The whole thing is literally up for grabs then.

Well, the up shot is that if something horrible passes then states are going to say screw you and balkanize. Hopefully.

Well, the up shot is that if something horrible passes then states are going to say screw you and balkanize. Hopefully. The last time that happened in this country unfortunately it didn't go well for those supporting secession. I'm also not sure that in this political climate that the States would do anything against the Federal government except huff and puff and eventually cave. This current crop of Republicans have a long history of doing just that. I mean the Republicans in Congress today can't even tell the liberals to fuck off in no uncertain terms. What's the likelihood of secession? Just saying... Balkanization would mean war for sure. I'd rather just head it off and not have to go through all that.

I'm not sure anyone would go to war. I wouldn't.
I'm not for civil conflict and I'm not for socialism. I'm not for seccession but stop taking the federal dollars and get the federal govt out of the individual states opposed to this goofballism.
I've lived in and toured many, many socialist countries and they generally suck and people don't generally have a good outlook.
/frustrated.

Alright, my mistake. I thought that's what you meant by Balkanize.
Personally I'd support secession if a number of red States broke away and formed a new Republic, but only if it could be accomplished without bloodshed the way it has happened in several countries in Europe. The former Czechoslovakia is a perfect example.
If you think about it the various regions of the United States are distinctly different in a cultural sense. So it makes sense that we should determine our own future rather than following the dictates of the Federal government.

Many, many countries have done this without violence. I'd even take a lower economic status if it meant more freedom and less taxes. Because within 5-10 years it would rebound and over take. Sorry, someone like me should not be paying 28% right to govt. straight off the bat. 15% sales tax.
