Since last year was my gun buying frenzy I'm not going to buy any more. I just want to pick up a scope for a Remington 742 I inherited. I also got my hiking pack and GHB back all tied up too. I just need another lightweight tarp which will be a Henessy Hex 70D. This year I will focus on: 1. Improving home security by adding to the alarm system, hardening windows and door. Better outdoor lighting. 2. Get out in the woods and do more hiking/camping and gear testing. 3. Lose another 10 lbs. Improve cardio fitness and break a 35 push up set. I'm at 30 per set now. 4. I'm just going to buy ammo that I consume this year. I have plenty socked away. 5. Add some better food to my food preps. I have the basics but I'd like to live well instead of survive. So, what are yours?

1) Prep the house to sell - hopefully we can get this done this year. 2) Generator and associated sub-box for essentials. (been dragging feet on this, they're not getting cheaper or any less necessary). 3) Expand the garden a little. 4) Remove clutter/crap and get down to the basics.
Selfish stuff for me: 5) G26 6) New pedal bike

I'm in an interesting situation starting off 2014. I'll be moving and starting a new job first thing; however, the gig may last for only a year, which is frustrating for planning. One of my big goals was to really up my gardening and edible landscaping. Oh well, at the very least I plan to continue with picking up self-stable goods. Otherwise:
- pay off debt - replenish dwindling ammo stocks - pack my chest freezer with food I caught and shot - shop at more farmers markets, kick the processed Monsanto foods monkey - get back into an adult routine (going back to college in my '30's has given me college dude habits...at least there's no bars anywhere near where I will be living) - MOAR Gunz! I will finally have an income and no wedding to save for! Stocks 'o Glocks and AR builds, FTW! I also have a huge HK fetish right now

Complete my urban/office SHTF bag Become proficient at knife sharpening Moar cardio/general fitness Improve home security (motion-sensing sconces, "drop cam" video surveillance, etc) Stock more ammo (5.56, 9mm, .22) More range time after getting more ammo Stock more food Stock medical supplies
I'd be satisfied with accomplishing 3-4 of these before 2014 is over, hopefully more but I sort of doubt I'll get around to all of them. 5-6 would be better.

Replenish/add to/improve my vehicle kit. I pretty much used or scattered out most everything. More foods in more places. I keep a small cache at home, a lot more at the parent's house and nothing yet at the shop. Need to address that. More fitness/training. Looking at Crossfit and if I can budget for it. At least two pistol courses this year. Carbine course if I finally finish this lower that's been here a year. Thinking about a semester long EMT course, no intent to work in the field, but I want the training. More education. I love me some school, but it is expensive and hard to buy when I have nothing in my career plan that really needs a degree. Moar ammo/ghats/gear. Hard to justify more guns as a prep, but ammo is a must. I fired less than 1K .22 this year. Unacceptable.

*Do better on food storage. Right now we have a haphazard array of canned goods and two buckets of rice. I estimate it would last our family about a month and a half, but it would be an unhappy time period based on variety and content. Need to make more of an effort to have a shopping list stockpile of food we actually eat rather than based on just a bunch of cans of food that would get us by. *Need some water barrels and a pump rather than 5 cases of drinking water and 15 two and a half gallon treated jugs to wash and flush to toilet with. *Need to get another generator for power outages. Sold our last one to a buddy in need. Can't decide whether to get a gas powered genny or one that runs on propane and just stock the propane tanks. I have a propane camping stove, but gas might be more common in an emergency. Looking at this one... Generac LP5500 Generator (*Click*)Given that the three main things that would be on continuously would be a fridge, a TV with a cable box and either a fan or space heater (or nothing at all depending on weather) that's enough power for us without running it full bore the whole time. Usage Chart : How Many Watts Do You Need? (*Click*)*3 more 5 gallon gas cans and a 15 gallon gas caddy w/pump. *Keep working out. *Go to a carbine class I've been wanting to attend at Tac-Pro. *Get two large D battery Surefire, Streamlight or Fenix flashlights and two that work on double AA's and just retire those Maglites once and for all. Have one 2-cell D Maglite left and 6 of the 2-cell AA battery Maglite Mini-mags that were either an impulse buy or gifted by family members or the fire dept/hospitals on X-Mas or ' Fire/EMS day'. The other two D Maglites we used to have one had the batteries corrode and I could only salvage the cap and the head off it and the other one was stolen out of my truck. One positive is that I have a shitload of spare heads, bulbs, lens and caps for them, the negative is that it takes those spare parts to keep them running. They aren't very efficient. Time to just get rid of them. I'll probably just standardize on these... TK-50 (larger - R), LD-20 (smaller - L) and the HL-30 (headlamp) Get two more of the Fenix TK50's and two more LD-20's. The other good lights are mostly on guns. *Get one more fire extinguisher for the house and another one for each vehicle. I'll get one more 20 lbs ABC extinguisher and three 2.5 lbs extinguishers. *Move to a larger house so we can store some of this stuff without it being an issue. Moving to a slightly better neighborhood would also be a positive in terms of possible crime. We don't live in a high crime neighborhood by any means, but I'd just like to be in a REALLY nice neighborhood instead of being in just a nice neighborhood.

Thanks to Christmas, I was able to scratch two of my goals off the list earlier than expected. I was given an Edge Pro Apex (knockoff) which is absolutely fantastic, BTW -- very easy to use and gives you hair-popping edges like its nothing. I also got everything for my office SHTF bag aside from a small LED flashlight which is currently in transit. In the process of stocking the bag with medical gear, I ended up with a fair amount of "leftover" supplies that just didn't fit the role of the bag, but as a result, got me started on my last goal of stocking more medical supplies at the house. I'm well on my way of hitting the 3-4 goals I was shooting for, but think 5-6 is looking more doable now.

2014 is going to be a big year for my wife and I!
1- Pay down the note on our new property. 2- Finish the 4 AR builds I have partially completed (2SBR, 2 carbine). 3- Stock more ammo. 4- Save the $$$ for the boat and homestead.

I have about 1.5kw of off-grid solar and want to add more panels but have read that one shouldn't add new batts to an older bank. Should I just start a seperate system---another controller, inverter, etc?
