Brief update. After a bit of research, I think I have settled on the 511 havoc 30 backpack for my get home bag version 2.0. I have a similar sized but lower quality book bag style backpack at home, and all my current GHB stuff will fit in it. Since I am planning on streamlining my gear a bit anyway, the havoc 30 should fit the bill. Anyone have any experience with this style of backpack?

Sorry for the late answer, but it looks like the same basic style as my Eberlestock with the upper and lowers flaps. Mine has a shelf midway to keep items in place from sinking all down into the bottom. Hopefully if you bought it yours has one as well. If not maybe you could fabricate one.
Mine looks like it's larger overall, but yours has that handy flap in the back where you could stow clothing (jacket probably). I have that feature on a different daypack and I really like it on that one. If you bought it already yours has multiple side pockets and small pockets in the waist strap, mine doesn't have those either. Looks good overall.
