Lowkey one question what is the job market like up there? I know GBM works for a 3 letter fed agency so do they have an office up there he can transfer to and not lose anything work related. GBM not much to say other then you did good. You are not hurt and not in jail, but the trash in your area is disheartening. Not robust. There are some fed and state jobs. Then in the private sector you have timber and fishing, transportation, and tourism. There ade two mines expected to reopen, one for rare earths and the othed uranium, with the associated jobs. Really, without knowing what someone actually does it's hard to be specific. For example, I know what OM does and there are definitely multiple employers on the island for his field... he'd just need to wait for an opening. Now if you're asking about Alaska in general vs just my island, then yes... GBM could very likely transfer up without too long of a wait. Lots of fed agencies.

GBM, that sucks, and is totally expected. the zombies are getting stronger and more brazen each year; this summer there were several incidents with guys walking up to load-in crews on festivals (we get there around 3am on day-of-show, set the stage, sound, lights, video; the band dujour shows up at 8am to soundcheck so it all has to be dialed in before the sun even gets up. Production life FTW) and asking for work, asking for smokes, some change etc. It got nasty at least twice that I know of this summer.
Anyone else rolling in to the lot at the same time, maybe set a schedule and team up. Any chance you can modify your schedule 15 minutes earlier or later?
Can you wear armor into the building? Then some level II with stab protection should be on your Christmas list.

I can modify my schedule but then I'd be late picking up my kids. A team up would be nice but no one else comes in that early. Yes, I can wear body armor, good suggestion, I hadn't thought of the stabby stabby proof stuff.
HomerJ, I have a cold steel walking cane and I'm going to drag it out and bring it with me from now on. It's their city stick.
I'm going either today or tomorrow to get a new can of spray. The one I have is old.
Yes, this is getting worse. This is the worse I've seen it.

Really, somewhere with a better climate and a smaller city. Definitely outside a city. There are places on my island for sale as well, and we don't really have a homeless problem here. They can't afford the ferry fare Salmon. Venison. Crab. Shrimp. No property or sales tax. OC or CCW wherever. Once this software starts selling and I can retire to a tiny house, I'll definitely be throwing a phone call your way LowKey

Angel, before you move you should talk to somebody about clearing out all the free range children that are contaminating the stream behind your soon to be residence. They are a major source of germs, loss of sleep, stress, and financial hardship. Other than that little problem, the new AO looks pretty awesome!

No property taxes mean that you could strat the purchase of land on the island, and as long as you can make the payments that would be the only expense.

Right now I'm focused on using my excess funds for education. I plan to graduate May 2016. So we'll see after that.

From what I've seen PBR can cause an outbreak of the little pests, based on the ratio of empty cans to free range children I've seen on the grass surrounding many trailer homes.
