Thanks doods! I ended coming out of pocket about 190 on the whole project. Way more than I wanted to spend, but I had to have the smith fix the trigger.
Got just shy of 150 rounds chilling ready to pump through this puppy tomorrow.

Soooo.....
It blasts. I'm not blown away by its performance though. About 6 fTE malfunctions in 138 rounds. It has trouble feeding the first round from the magazine somewhat frequently, just gets hung up in the barrell. I think the HSM remanufactured ammo might have had something to do with it. My buddy evidently doesn't speak Winchester white box. No malf in he whopping 18 rounds of Tula I fed it.
Gave it to pops. He and my mother were blown the fuck away by how good it looks.

It's been awhile since I spoke 1911 but I think the dbl feeds are a fitment issue if they do it on the first round. Try downloading 1-2 rounds and run it for awhile like that, it should 'break in'. Break in periods are real with 1911s. Sure, this one isn't new but it has a bunch on new stuff in it.

I always thought that was a real thing, and I told steppops to shoot ths little bastid as much as he can. He seemed excited about it.
I also did a field strip and cleaned it back up after I shot it. Then I fired four more to make sure I put it back together correcltly. If there is a gun that's more of a bitch to put back together after a field strip, well I've never stripped it.
And holy shit, watching him shoot it was a little embarrassing. Like no stance, grip or anything. A teacup or weaver grip would have been light years ahead of where he was at. I need to get him into some training.
My moms gun handling is piss poor at best. "Hey mom, please don't point that at my dick," I said as I watched her handling it on the couch as I was standing next to her. "No big deal, it's not loaded."
Holy fuck, are we even related!?!
So i'm hoping this project will at least get him somewhat into shooting. We'll see how that goes. Worse cause, we still built him a beautiful gun.
