#19 We reviewed a bunch of techniques in preparation for next week's test. The thing we drilled the most was taking the back from mount. Basically the technique we learned was to pin one of his arms across his neck, reach under his neck with your hand to grab the wrist, while moving up behind him into position then pull the wrist and use your whole body to push with your chest and shoulders to roll him over. I rolled with the same dude as last time. This time I defended the choke and was able to escape easily with a side shrimp technique. I forgot to block the leg so he got mount. When I had the back I made the mistake of letting go of my seatbelt grip at a time when he still had a strong neck defense. I began to lose position so I wrapped my legs and arms around him and waited for a lull. When the time came I stayed on him as tight as possible and got mount.

#20 We mostly did a flow drill which involved getting mount from guard. Later on we added in submissions. The more advanced white belt I was with did the triangle arm bar, the triangle choke and the triangle kimura. I learned the X choke or cross choke from guard.
I practiced the dog butt escape from back control after that. Can't find video. I was pretty wore out going into this practice. Probably gonna take a couple months to get used to 4-5 Jiu Jitsu classes a week. I also ate breakfast too close to class. When I got on top I was feeling like I wanted to vomit. Gotta wait at least 2 hours after eating.

Yes, working hard and getting choked is a good way to induce vomiting. LOL.
Anywho, I'm up to 8 Vs with the ab roller and the kids are now challenging me on the bench.

Fack I'm walking like I'm broken.
Today was Squats, squats, squats, with a side of kettlebell lunges, hams, and some GHD shit that tore me up. After that it was 27 flights of stairs with a lead vest on.
I feel like a little old man trying to smuggle a penguin in his socks...

Checked again this morning - yup, legs still broken. Good thing it's chest/tri day! Now I can be broken all over!
Gym gripe: It's cool that you're working out hard and being awesome - please wipe down the bench/whatev' when you're done leaving your grease fire on it. Shit's nasty - there's spray bottles and rags everywhere - use them. That's all.

#21 We practiced a shitload of stuff. Too much to list. One cool thing was we got attacked today. Basically someone comes up behind you and puts you in an RNC. I defended mine well and was well into the dog butt escape by the time the teacher said to stop. Feeling good.

#22 Today we fine tuned the bow choke and practiced wing choke for when someone stops you from getting the bow choke. We rolled a several times from back. Nobody got a submission. The more experienced white belt I rolled with got in better positions more often but I was able to end up in the better position after losing or escaping back a couple times. We also practiced clock choke from the turtle position a couple times. Was fun.

#23 We did stand up today. We learned the hip toss and how to use it while someone is trying to punch you. I got gassed quick. At the end we tried to throw a resisting partner in a hip throw battle (think rolling but standing up and only using one technique). When I started with the advantage I was able to throw a blue belt after a minute or two of struggling. When I started with the disadvantage he got me in less than 30 seconds. Was fun.

#24 We learned this throw today.
We also learned a little bit about single leg takedowns although we didn't actually throw anyone yet.

#25 Today I got to pick what I wanted to go over. I wanted to review the side control stuff. It was a good class. Got some practice in and learned a couple new tricks.

Landmine, oh landmine how I love you. And by love I mean "sweat dripping, core tightening, forearm screaming, make those in the gym wonder what the hell you're doing to that perfectly loveable barbell in the corner" sort of love. Does your gym have a landmine? Your gym needs a landmine. Or two. More. MOARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!Less machines more barbell, bitches. Gotta go find a theracane.

I like the looks of that landmine.
Last nights work out. 2 sets of 10 abs roller Vs. I was told it was impressive. 3 sets of 30 sit ups. 2 sets of 25 push ups with intermittant planking. 10 50m sprints. Jogged about 500m. 25 squats. 2 sets of 8 reps bench press @ 235 lbs. Leg extensions on machine, 2 sets @ 120 and 130 lbs.
20 minutes of boxing instruction.
I brought passion and stupid strength. I'm on a mission to get dat cardio up, the kids were whipping me jogging. It's like their a half to a third of my age. Little bastards.

I got a pedometer app, I walk approx 7.5 miles a day 5 days a week at work as well as throw 1000s of lbs of freight each day. I really should weight train but just hard to find the motivation, honestly. I weigh around 175 naturally but wouldn't mind hitting the weights and sitting around 190. We'll see..I have some dumbbells, protein powder, pull up bar etc..just need to get off my ass and actually do it.
Good on you guys for getting out there and training.
