Exactly. However at the same time any police dept in the US can ask for and receive M-16's, M-14's, 1911's, NV gear, thermal imaging, mags, helmets, body armor, grenade launchers, MRAP's and a whole host of other weapons and gear. War Gear Flows to Police Departments (*Click*)Now I'm not saying that some of these police departments don't necessarily need these weapons, vehicles, gear and accessories. In some cities they're practically warzones. However I have a really hard times believing that the United States Border Patrol is unable to do the same exact thing that all these State and Local Police Depts are doing. When I was stationed out of the Fire Dept the Police Chief for that city was an EMT as well and he used to come to our C.E.'s and I was telling him about that program. He hadn't heard of it before and I just read about it in this AR-15 book written by Patrick Sweeney. There's a chapter in there dedicated to that. At any rate I investigated the 1208 and the 1033 program run by the DoD through TX-DPS (*Click*) (and **Click** ) for him and printed the contact info. I heard that they ended up getting some stuff from them after I left. This was a Police Dept for a city of less than 20,000 people. So I find it a little hard to believe that the Border Patrol for the United States that's tasked with securing our nations borders has a problem coming up with rifles for their personnel if they really want them. As a result I'm pretty sure that this is more politically motivated and less bureaucratic inefficiency.

Hmmm...it's almost as if the goal is to not effectively patrol/control the border. But that would assume there would be no political motivation for tens-of-thousands and guaranteed Democrat voters. Aaaaaalmost, huh. Militarize the police and demilitarize the border patrol. Hmm. It almost makes one wonder...

I think both are correct. Another one of those times that I am reminded just how fortunate I am to live in a relatively conservative small town. I guess, in a way, I have a hard time understanding why people would want to live there in the first place, but I suppose whatever reasons have them living there may make it hard for them to leave. Or other reasons entirely. Or whatever. So yeah, leave if you can, stay if you must, but be smart, and be armed. On the other hand, while I may not understand why someone would want to live there, I can understand not wanting to be forced to leave your home, and regardless of where they live, they shouldn't be. Forced, I mean.
