Are modern minie balls readily available for calibers you typically shoot in ball? The only conicals I have seen were hunting sabots. Sorry, didn't see this til now. Yes, they are. My father was big into BP and he had several Civil War/War Between the States/War of Northern Aggression guns (a couple originals and several replicas) that he used to shoot. You can buy both the balls or the molds and a smelter. www.cabelas.com/product/Caliber-Minnie-Balls/1200483.uts

No problem, thanks for the links. My next BP is probably going to be a Civil War cap lock replica, I am kicking myself in the butt for not picking up an Italian Springfield replica in a Columbia, SC pawn shop they only wanted $120 or so.

Are you meaning the Colt or Remmy replicas or the single shot? The collector side of me has always wanted a set of original 18th century dueling pistols and a Griswold & Gunnison .36 caliber revolver. Those are out of this world on pricing though.

That's actually kinda cool. I'd have to do a total poseur move and rough up the finish a little bit though.
I wouldn't do that on a modern gun, but the BP Civil War era replicas pretty much demand it. That's probably because to me those revolvers bring Quantrill's Missouri Raiders and the Kansas 'Jayhawkers' to mind rather than the Army of the Northern Virginia and the Army of the Potomac.
