I believe that you're right in that the Military is largely more of a blue-collar career choice. Always has been and it probably always will be. I'd have to disagree with you on the idea that liberals/progressives want to respect Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen.
Where it's come up in conversation the progressives I've met have nothing but total contempt for the Military and Police.
As far as the pensions of Police and Firefighters go what you're talking about is the end to collective bargaining by the unions and some pension funds being fiscally unsustainable. Especially after 9/11 Police and Firefighter unions did very well, as the economy started winding down for some cities they couldn't afford to pay those pension funds. Some cities are in real trouble as they've been borrowing from the Police and Fire pension funds for years.
Calling for an end to collective bargaining is more of a northern thing (due to the unions, down here it's all right to work) and even there it's actually a bi-partisan issue. In reality the Dems and the Reps take turns trying to roll them back. The AFL-CIO and the IAFF just makes a bigger deal out of it when it's a Republican effort to do it (as the leadership of those unions is largely Dem while much of the rank and file is Republican). That's better than the city in question declaring bankruptcy.

www.politico.com/story/2014/06/irs-lois-lerner-emails-108044.htmlSorry fellas, I work in IT. This is a major No-No! Now, there should be a mail server that keeps track of the emails. Get into the server rooms and have an independent source confiscate the server drives and system backups! Plus I'm getting my degree in Computer Forensics. If the harddrive crashed, most of the data can still be recovered. And according to law, they have to keep backups for several years (If my memory serves me correct, it's 10 for federal)

Hasn't the narrative of the MSM always been that no NBC weapons facilities were ever found during the invasion?

Hasn't the narrative of the MSM always been that no NBC weapons facilities were ever found during the invasion? Well the plant can make other stuff like fertilizer. The question was did he make weapons or not.

Hasn't the narrative of the MSM always been that no NBC weapons facilities were ever found during the invasion? Well the plant can make other stuff like fertilizer. The question was did he make weapons or not. Pretty much what I was always curious about. That's what the Iraqi invasion was all about and I've heard it both ways. I know for instance that Saddam Hussein used chemical weapons against the Iranians in the Iran-Iraq war, but after Desert Storm/Persian Gulf there was some decommissioning I thought. So I really don't know. Also read that Russian special forces spirited some biological and chemical weapons out of the country to Syria right before the US invasion, once again don't know how true that is either.

Yeah, that was in 1988 though. Tail end of the Iraq-Iran war. After that the UN found and destroyed some of that. (Forgive the Wikipedia link, what I had handy). Iraq and weapons of mass destructions - Wikipedia I've always heard the MSM stating that no NBC weapons were found after the invasion and they used that claim to bash Bush and his administration. Then again I've read multiple books and articles where vets claimed to have found these kinds of weapons, so I just wasn't sure what the truth was one way or another. That link just made me think if it.

They just shipped them to Syria before the invasion took place. Basir had no real production capability but somehow had the weapons. Curious.
